On World Heart Day, NHSRCC Children’s Hospital hosts a panel discussion to focus on various important and relevant issues of cardiac ailments in children

Mumbai, 29th September 2022: The burden of heart disease is on the rise the world over, and India is no exception. Even a couple of decades ago heart attacks used to be a problem predominantly in older adults. Anyone younger than 40 years having a heart attack used to be a rare phenomenon. Now the situation has changed drastically with more and more instances of patients below 40 years succumbing to heart disease. This is one aspect of heart disease in adults in India. But what about the other aspect, the congenital heart defects in India? Congenital heart defects are the commonest birth defects seen in India. In a year in India, the caseload of children born with congenital heart disease is more than 200,000 and of these almost 40,000 babies are born with serious defects which require corrective surgery within the first year of life.

In the last 5 years, since the inception of SRCC Children’s Hospital, managed by Narayana Health located at Haji Ali, Mumbai, over 7500 children born with heart defects have been attended to the paediatric cardiac OPD, and another 10,000 children with suspected and/or diagnosed heart defects have been screened by our paediatric cardiologists at peripheral cardiac camps in Maharashtra and the neighbouring states and over 3400 children have undergone corrective procedures or surgeries. The instances of surgical or transcatheter interventions on pre-term babies weighing less than 800 grams, or even on one-day-old babies are plenty. In this facility, children getting treatment for their heart defects come not only from Mumbai and the rest of Maharashtra, but also from other states within India, and even from middle eastern and African countries like Yemen and Iraq, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

On this World Heart Day, the Paediatric Cardiologists and Paediatric Cardiac Surgeons of SRCC Children’s Hospital, managed by Narayana Health joined together in a panel discussion to focus on various important and relevant issues such as the prevalence of cardiac ailments in children, the importance of early diagnosis and intervention, the available treatment options and the long- term outcomes of congenital heart disease. All the doctors emphasized the need for increased awareness amongst parents, the general public and paediatricians for timely diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, which will help achieve immediate and long-term excellent outcomes and allow these children born with CHD to lead normal lives. They also emphasized the importance of inculcating a healthy and active lifestyle with good food habits from early childhood in all children, which goes a long way in promoting good future cardiovascular health when these children become adults.

Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder and Chairman of Narayana Health, stressed on the need for early detection and treatment as the key to a successful outcome, as any delay in the diagnosis of congenital heart defects only makes the treatment more complex.

Indian Creative Industry Provides Opportunities for Expansion & Leaving a Global Footprint of the Country: Justice Prathiba M. Singh

MUMBAI, 28 September 2022: Hon’ble Justice Prathiba M Singh, Judge, Delhi High Court today said, “There are enormous opportunities that the Indian Creative Sector provides for expansion and leaving a global footprint of the country.”

Addressing the two-day ‘FICCI FRAMES Fast Track 2022’ on strengthening India’s IP Ecosystem, Justice Singh highlighted, “There is a need for a unified central agency for enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights that will help strengthen the overall IP ecosystem.”

While addressing the low turnover of the Indian movie industry as compared to other countries, she highlighted that USA produced less than half the number of films and generated 8 times more box office revenue while China produced almost half the films, yet the box office collections was nearly 7 times of India. Similarly, in the Indian music industry, she highlighted that the Indian music consumption was above the global average and close to that of US and the UK, but revenue generated by India was 65 times lesser than that of the USA and 1/5th of the UK.

Sharing her insights on the Indian arts and painting industry, she said that while a combined 8 per cent of the ‘world’s wealth spent on treasure’, consists of spends on fine art paintings, pictures, and sculptures; only 0.02 per cent of the Indian wealth is spent on arts. She highlighted that India’s visual art market was valued around USD 0.17 billion in 2017 and the visual art sector was prone to forgeries with an estimated USD 1 million worth of forged art traded in India every year.

Mr Karan Thapar, Deputy Secretary, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, spoke about the Government’s initiative towards protecting the rights of the creative industry stakeholders. He said that the government while being committed towards strengthening of IP laws, was also focused on the sensitization and awareness about IP among enforcement agencies and the judiciary.

World Heart Day 2022 - P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre to project a blinking heart to create awareness around heart health

Mumbai, 27th September 2022: World Heart Day is celebrated globally every year on 29th September to raise awareness around cardiovascular diseases. This year the number of people either suffering from heart ailments, heart attacks and strokes has increased considerably. In order to highlight the need for Cardiovascular Health for everyone, P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre will be projecting a holographic beating heart on the hospital’s IPD building from 7pm – 5am from 27th to 29th September. Through this initiative, the hospital intends to drive awareness towards the importance of heart health round the clock.  Additionally, the hospital will also be hosting a 3-day fitness contest – “Hinduja Hospital Healthy Heart Challenge” on StepSetGo to encourage walking, increase step count and adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) is one of the leading causes of mortality in India. World Health Organization’s country wise statistics on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) estimate that NCDs account for around 53% of the total deaths. Of this, CVDs have a major share of about 24%.According to medical studies conducted across the country, close to 25% Indians below 40-years are at risk of suffering a heart attack or other serious heart-related complications. This risk increases to 50% for people between 40 and 50 years of age. Taking a note of this, P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC aims to highlight the importance of Heart Health and the importance of inculcating healthy habits like regular exercising, keeping a check of blood sugar, blood pressure and 8 hours of sleep.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Joy Chakraborty, COO, P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC shared, “Heart health has been a pressing issue in India. With an increase in heart attack cases in the recent time specially among young individuals, heart health needs conscious efforts and attention to ensure a healthy life. One of the major reasons for this increasing trend is high levels of stress due to long working hours, reduced sleep, improper dietary habits and lack of physical activity. Along with inculcating certain healthy habits, it is also important for people to take regular health check-ups to ascertain their risk of heart diseases and other serios complications. Through this initiative, we intend to create awareness towards prioritizing hear health.”

Dr. Rajesh Rajani, Consultant Coronary Interventionist, P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC said, “Eating right and exercising regularly are critical and known to improve heart health, similarly sleep also plays a very significant role in keeping the heart healthy. The new standard for sleep duration shows that sleep impacts overall health and those who complete their sleep and have healthier sleep patterns are better at managing health factors like weight and blood pressure and are at a lower risk of Type 2 diabetes.  Several studies have highlighted that short duration and poor quality of sleeping is associated with high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and atherosclerosis. Further, habitual short sleep also increases the chance of cardiovascular events.”

Cardiovascular diseases today are being observed in the younger population. It is therefore important to take necessary steps such as adopting a healthy lifestyle and seek immediate medical help without delay to avoid any long-term health complications.

GOLDEN RATIO FILMS ANNOUNCES ITS MOST AMBITIOUS PROJECT: ‘HEROES OF HAIFA’

~ The larger-than-life project will be co-produced in association with Yaelstar Films and Hundred Films ~

Mumbai, September 2022: Golden Ratio Films, the digital content production arm of Vistas Media Capital, commemorates the Battle of Haifa by announcing a film project telling its story. One of its most exciting movie project titled, ‘Heroes of Haifa’, will be co-produced by Yaelstar Films and Hundred Films. This will be GRF’s third successful project with Yaelstar Films.

The Indian and Israel governments held a special ceremony to mark the bravery displayed by Indian soldiers in the battle fought during World War I on 23rd September 1918. The producers of the film, Piiyush Singh and Ashwini Chaudhary of Golden Ratio Films along with Miten Shah, Promoter of Yaelstar Films and Atul Pandey, Co-founder of Hundred Films announced this during the Haifa Day celebrations, in Haifa to honour the historic event.

Based on the most successful cavalry charge in the history of modern warfare, the movie will bring to screen the epic story of Indian soldiers from the Jodhpur Lancers, Mysore Lancers, and Hyderabad Lancers. They were armed only with lances and swords, outclassing Ottoman, German, and Austrian troops. The opposite side was superior and equipped with machine guns, cannons, and modern weapons but could not prevail in the face of Indian soldiers. Even today, Israeli school textbooks educate students about The Battle of Haifa and their gallantry.

Authentic 20th-century Middle-Eastern architecture, clothing, and culture will bring to life the chilling realities of The Great War. The fast-paced war drama with realistic action intermingled with world geopolitics at the time will share experiences of raw horrors and glories of Indian soldiers. Ministries of Israel have encouraged the production and invited them to shoot the film at actual locations in Israel, where the battle went down. Through this collaboration, the film industry will benefit from the wealthy history of both cultures and will aid the future of Israeli and Indian cinema.

Atul Pandey, Co-founder, Hundred Films, “We are honoured to make a film with such an exceptional storyline. After a lot of research on minute details and considering the nuances of battle we are able to pin down this incredible narrative the world should be aware of. The shooting of ‘Heroes of Haifa’ will be set in the actual theatre of the First World War in the Middle East. It will enhance the friendship between the two nations through cinema.”

Miten Shah, Promoter, Yaelstar Films, "This is a very important chapter of history where Indian soldiers showcased incredible courage and worked to defeat the Ottoman Empire. This historical film will have a mixed cast, including Indian and international actors. ‘Heroes of Haifa’ will give viewers an authentic experience of the era, and I am thrilled to be a part of a project mounted on an epic scale.”

Piiyush Singh, Co-founder & Group COO, Vistas Media Capital, “We are very excited to partner with Yaelstar Films and Hundred Films Entertainment for this project. ‘Heroes of Haifa’ is a story about the courageous feat of Indian soldiers that has been lost in the pages of history, and we are glad to bring it to the fore. As a global production house, GRF strives to raise awareness about subjects attached to a cause. We hope to connect with Israeli audiences through this film and look forward to working on other interesting subjects based in the country."

Ashwini Chaudhary, President, Golden Ratio Films, “‘Heroes of Haifa’ is yet another international film venture undertaken by GRF that will give us the opportunity to open the pages of Indian history that have seemed to be lost. This gives us a chance to showcase our skills and re-create moments that changed the course of world history. Given our past experiences with undertaking successful projects on an international scale, we are confident that this new venture that will resonate with generations to come. It’s a love of labour and we are happy to get this rare chance to do justice to an absolutely incredible story."

The Israel Foreign Ministry said that it was a wonderful discussion with Bollywood producers on Indo-Israel films and media collaborations. Joint projects like this will help strengthen the close ties between the 2 countries as they celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations. “The epic historical drama intends to appeal to a broad audience, especially Israelis. The Battle of Haifa is a very important part of Israel’s history and deserves to be remembered as a special symbol of resilience and sacrifice.”

The Mayor of Haifa, Dr. Einat Kalisch Rotem, blessed the decision of the producers to film the movie in Haifa and assured the production of all support in any way possible, "I'm positive that the movie will show our beautiful city and its importance in the history of India. This large-scale production will create awareness about Haifa among millions of viewers, not only from India but from other countries, and increase tourists visiting the place.”

GRF has a strong pipeline of major releases, both theatrical and over-the-top (OTT) projects for 2022 such as ‘Sehar’, a movie starring Pankaj Kapur as the lead; ‘Baby Crasto’, a film directed by Jesal Shah with Supriya Pathak in the star cast, and ‘Lord Curzon Ki Haveli’, a black-comedy-thriller that marks the directorial debut of actor Anshuman Jha. In the upcoming GRF movie ‘Superwoman’, actress Meera Chopra addresses the taboo topic of asexuality, while ‘Pep’, a Hollywood project, is a real-life story of world champion boxer Willie Pep. A fighter with the most wins, ‘Pep’ is about his journey out of retirement and back into the ring. This project will be followed by ‘JBaby’, a Tamil drama directed by Suresh Mari.

Expressing concern over declining number of theatres, the Secretary said that over the past 5-6 years, the number of theatres has witnessed a decline and we need to reverse this trend. “We will assign the Film Facilitation Office to work with Invest India to come up with a single-window portal for opening theatres, so that more and more theatres can come up and the public gets more avenues to watch films in theatres. We will also work with the states to create a Model Theatre Policy, so that the states can adopt and work on the same.”

Sharing with the industry that AVGC is the future, Mr Chandra further informed that the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) Promotion Task Force constituted by the Ministry of I&B will submit the report within the next 15 days. “We are compiling the reports of the sub-Task Forces, and thereafter we will submit the recommendations and go through the process of adopting the report. AVGC is the next revolution like the IT revolution 20 years back,” he added.

He also shared that the National Centre of Excellence for AVGC is going to be set up in collaboration with the private sector. “We have taken an in-principle decision to set up the AVGC Centre of Excellence in collaboration with the private sector. The Ministry of I&B will function as a catalyst for the upsurge in the media and entertainment industry.”

Ms Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, UK said, “We want to work with the talented and creative people to champion sustainability in the creative industries and the film industry, through investment, and support. We are open for business. We would like to invite you to get involved in our cultural festivals, to attend, but also to partner in the exciting programs of activity.”

“With the strength of the sector in the region, there are huge opportunities for companies from India to partner with our leading companies and invest in the region. The rewards are there for the taking and we will support you every step of the way. We want to deepen our relationship with creative India, attracting more investment from production companies, studios, post-production houses, and VFX companies,” added Ms Brabin.

Actor and Renowned Film Personality Mr Ranveer Singh said, “Entertainment options have opened up. There are new structures and entertainment. Media is constantly fragmenting, and we are seeing massive changes in entertainment consumption patterns. I believe we’re poised to adapt as we always have, to our rapidly evolving consumer habits.”

Now both cinema and the small platforms will perform together in a much bigger way. The digital movement has reached a point where the correction can be made at one place and aired all over.”

FICCI Director General Mr Arun Chawla said, “We are all aware of India's digital transformation. It has caused the number and importance of online media platforms to rise dramatically.
