Mumbai: 27th March, 2023

The 1st Trade and Investment Working Group (TIWG) meeting under India’s G20 Presidency is scheduled in Mumbai, from March 28 − 30, 2023. During the three-day meeting, over 100 delegates from G20 member countries, invitee countries, regional groupings and international organizations will engage in deliberations to accelerate global trade and investments

On the first day, on March 28, an International Conference on ‘Trade Finance’ will be held. This International Conference is being organized by Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) and India EXIM Bank.

Trade finance supports economic growth, and it is integral for maintaining international trade flows, for mitigating risks emerging from tight liquidity. Around 80% of all international trade uses some type of trade finance instrument, such as letter of credit, supply chain financing, invoice discounting and receivables financing. Global trade finance involves a number of parties, including banks, trade finance companies, export credit agencies, insurers, importers and exporters. Trade finance is the lifeblood of cross-border trade. It is estimated that in 2020, $9 trillion of trade finance transactions were supported by major global banks. Yet, trade finance gap is widening. As estimated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the gap which was $1.5 trillion in 2018 has now increased to $ 2 trillion. It is thus imperative to deliberate on action-oriented solutions that can reduce finance gap and make it accessible harnessing the potential of digital tools and technology. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which sustain livelihoods and contribute to global economic growth in both the developing and developed countries, are disproportionately affected by the yawning trade finance gap.

In this backdrop, this International Conference will hold two sessions. The first session will highlight the role of banks, financial institutions, development finance institutions and export credit agencies in closing the trade finance gap, and the second session will delve into how digitalization and fintech solutions can improve access to trade finance.

Session 1: The role of banks, financial institutions, development finance institutions and export credit agencies in closing the trade finance gap

Moderator: Ms. Latha Venkatesh, Executive Editor, CNBC TV 18

Panel members: Mr. Steven Beck, Head of Trade Finance, ADB; Prof. Andreas Klasen, Professor of International Business and Director, IFTI, Offenburg University, Germany; Mr. Gaurav Bhatnagar, Managing Director, Standard Chartered Bank

The first session will take a macro view of the current trends in international trade and trade finance, and their future prospects. Some key pointers of the discussion are listed below:

1. Current trends in international trade and trade finance amidst the pandemic and growing import bills in developing countries.

2. Cause of trade finance gaps, including reduced credit line support in the private sector and inflation cuts into bank lending limits.

3. The role of export credit agencies in bolstering trade finance

Session 2: Accelerating digitalisation and fintech solutions can improve access to trade finance

Moderator: Ms. Tamanna Inamdar, TIMES Group

Panel members: Mr. John Drummond, Head of the Trade in Services Division of OECD; Mr. Fareed Alasaly, Deputy Governor of International Organizations and Agreements, Saudi Arabia; Mr. Ketan Gaikwad, MD & CEO, Receivables Exchange of India Limited

During this session, trends in digitalisation of trade finance will be discussed in detail, and how these can accelerate innovation and efficiency to make trade finance accessible for firms, especially MSMEs. The discussion will also look at current and emerging fintech solutions that can assist in making customized lending decisions as well as enhance trade finance supply for MSMEs. Some of the specific discussions would include:

1. Need for digitalising trade finance by working with multiple stakeholders to innovate advanced technologies for revamping the trade ecosystem in entirety

2. Scope of digitalisation of MSMEs to reduce the implementation time and cost, and promote innovation in the supply of finance for low-value or single transactions since major bottlenecks arise due to high-cost services and the cost of cyber security risk mitigation strategies.

3. Emerging solutions in financial technologies, such as network data, real-time payment behaviours, SaaS based technologies and optical character recognition.

The ‘Exports Excellence Awards’ were conferred by Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Anupriya Patel, to encourage, motivate and recognize the best performing exporters from Western Region, here in Mumbai today. The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) organized the 6th and 7th Set of Export Excellence Awards, for the members who have excelled in export performance of goods and services during the financial years 2018-19 and 2019-20 respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Anupriya Patel, said, “The western region has contributed almost 50 % to India’s merchandise export. Looking at this contribution we have every reason to celebrate this achievement. I hope the award winners continue to serve as role models and inspire others.”

Referring to the role of exports during Amrit Kaal, she said, “The efforts we take today go a long way in fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision for the nation. We are now in Amrit Kaal and the next 25 years are important for us to dream and make sure our dreams come true. The export community must contribute towards a developed India. Its contribution is huge for the brand image of the country. Ministry of Commerce and Industry is with you at all steps to assist and support you.”

Urging exporters to make the most of increasing bilateral engagements she said, “Today we are lauded as the fifth largest economy. In next 4-5 years we are poised to be 3rd largest. The Government is making sure that as we advance, we create more opportunities. Our bilateral engagement has been increasing in terms of the large number of FTAs we are negotiating with UAE, Australia and others. Make use of these opportunities to reach global markets.”

With regard to expanding the scope of exports the Minister stated, “The Prime Minister says that every district of India has immense potential, comparable to a single country in the world. Why not focus on that untapped potential for exports and the slogan ‘Vocal for local and local goes global.’ Exporters must focus on diversifying the export basket and reaching greater number of destinations. For this we are working on an initiative - District as Export Hub.”

Stressing on the importance of creativity and innovation she noted, “Creativity and innovation very important in exports. As exporters you know the significance of being more innovative in products. I urge you to invest more in research. Global markets today are evolving.        Only Grenade Launcher, Throwables are available in the new Lab mode

Most of the terrains are destructible, presenting new combat experiences

New Delhi, March 24th 2023 – KRAFTON, Inc. has released its March Update for NEW STATE MOBILE, the popular battle royale game on iOS and Android, that includes the arrival of “KA-BOOM” Mode in NEW STATE Labs. In addition to KA-BOOM Mode, this month’s update brings improvements for “LAGNA” map, new handgun “Sawed-off”, Labs content “Recruit Mode” returns for “Erangel”, and Survivor Pass Vol.17 being revealed.

The new NEW STATE Labs content KA-BOOM is a Round Deathmatch (RDM) available on the ARENA map, where players fight using only grenade launcher and throwables. Ammunitions other than grenades are not available in this mode. Most of the rules are the same as other RDMs, except that the grenades do not inflict any damage to friendly players. From the care package in the center of the map, players can get a “Red Zone Launcher,” which create explosions stronger than ordinary grenades. In the KA-BOOM Mode, all terrains, except for the starting point and certain areas, can be destroyed by explosion. Since plunging down to the destroyed terrain leads to instant death, players will be able to enjoy a new combat experience.

LAGNA, which was introduced in the February update, has been improved based on the players’ feedback and their play data. Now, a “Mesta,” a classic sports car for two people, will always be generated on the ridge between “Estacion” and “Carta.” Multi-care packages now have higher chances to present items, while the general item spawn rate is also slightly increased. The Blue Zone settings have also been adjusted to give more time for players to get items in the first Blue Zone phase.

The new 12-gauge handgun Sawed-off has an explosive single-shot damage and thus can be a good option to deal with an opponent in the close range. Players can attach a Choke to Sawed-off to lessen the bullet spread when fired.

The NEW STATE Labs content Recruit Mode has returned for Erangel. Recruit times have been lowered for this mode compared to the Battle Royale Mode. Players can grow the squad up to eight players. Once the player successfully recruits a downed opponent, health and booster level of both players will be fully recovered. Like other Modes in NEW STATE Lab, the Recruit Mode is not permanent and is only available for 8 hours on every weekend’s Hot Time.

Weapon balances have also changed for some guns, too, based on the play data. The magazine capacity of Extended Mag customization for submachine gun “Vector” has increased to 50 from 45. The Long Barrel & Enhanced Stock customization for “Micro UZI” gives less vertical can horizontal recoil control. In addition, aiming support for some guns including Vector and Micro UZI has been decreased.

The main character for Survivor Pass Vol. 17 is “Maria Gayle” from the Mayhem faction. Once all of the story missions have been completed, players will get Maria Gayle’s face skin for free. If they upgrade to the Premium Pass, they’ll be able to obtain Maria Gayle’s costume set.

Meanwhile, the “Legacy Pass” has been introduced to NEW STATE MOBILE starting Survivor Pass Vol.17, allowing players to get what was available only from the previous Premium Passes.

We aim for one million loyalty signups by August 2024: Jumboking

With the mushrooming of organized QSR brands in India, all aiming at the customer's share of wallet, every brand is rolling out the red carpet for its customers.

What is proven across the world is that taste isn't the only determinant of success. Customers look to engage with the brand in newer, more convenient ways. A well-crafted loyalty program that prioritizes the customer's habits is a great way to make this happen.

India’s largest homegrown vegetarian burger brand, JumboKing has launched the ‘JK Burger Rewards’. The loyalty program aims to strengthen its customer connect by introducing new products first to its most loyal customers. By becoming part of trying  new menu items, they will feel more involved in the decision-making process through “exclusive access.” In addition to this, every time the customer places an order, they receive points in their JK Burger wallet. As the points add up, customers can avail discounts and free products.

"Other than rewarding our most loyal customers, we are seeking to understand customer’s needs. This is what we aim to achieve through our mobile-first, ‘JK Burger Rewards’ rollout. Another important aspect is the realization that whether you're an online company or an offline company, you have to embrace technology to unlock value. By August 2024, the goal is to have 1 million active members join ‘JK Burger Rewards' in Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad," says Dheeraj Gupta, Founder of Jumboking.

      Other loyalty programs
QSRs woke up a long time ago to the adage, ‘data is the new oil.’ One of India’s most loved loyalty programs is "My Starbucks Rewards", which allows customers to earn ‘Stars’ for every purchase they make at Starbucks locations in India. These 'Stars' can be exchanged for free drinks and food. Members of the program also receive special offers and discounts on their birthdays and other special occasions.

      Origin of loyalty programs
The first modern loyalty program commenced in 1793, when a merchant in Sudbury, New Hampshire, began rewarding customers with ‘copper tokens’. The tokens could be accumulated and used for future purchases, thereby generating repeat visits, the core behavioral objective of loyalty program design.

The idea was quickly replicated by other retailers and carried into the 18th century. 1981 saw the launch of the first and most well-known loyalty program ever created,  ‘Frequent Fliers’. Launched by American Airlines, it revolutionized customer loyalty.

Jumboking’s mobile-first loyalty program aims to make the redemption process easy.   Moreover, as printed coupons become a thing of the past, every touch point such as a personalized message, provides an opportunity to engage with the consumer and curate a high-quality experience with the brand. Making your customer’s attention count is becoming increasingly important in the competitive QSR landscape and can go a long way in solidifying brand advocacy.
