Singapore Homeland Security Selects Living Optics to Showcase Cutting-Edge Hyperspectral Imaging

Company to Demonstrate Market-Ready Hyperspectral Imaging Capabilities for Border Security and Forensic Intelligence

Abingdon, England, April 16 – Living Optics, a hyperspectral imaging (HSI) company with defense technology applications, has been selected by Singapore Homeland Security’s HTX division for a strategic proof of concept initiative to demonstrate its advanced imaging capabilities for security and forensic use cases. Living Optics will showcase its ready-to-deploy technology, demonstrating how its advanced imaging capabilities strengthen border security, support forensic scene analysis, and serve a wide range of homeland security applications.

At the core of the Living Optics platform is a compact, high-performance hyperspectral video camera that enables security teams to identify threats and anomalies invisible to traditional sensors. By analyzing the unique spectral signatures of materials, the system can uncover hidden objects, track movements, detect camouflage, and identify residual traces of activity. With edge computing and AI-powered analytics, the solution delivers actionable intelligence in real-time, without requiring extensive technical training or complex setup.

“This initiative underscores our technological maturity and readiness for immediate deployment in practical national security scenarios,” said Dr. Steve Chappell, Co-founder and CTO at Living Optics. “Our mission has always been to make hyperspectral imaging practical and impactful for frontline teams. The camera was designed so that non-specialist personnel can operate it effectively and make faster, smarter decisions. We are excited to demonstrate our technology's versatility, readiness, and potential to shape next-generation security solutions across the region.”

Unlike conventional forensic tools, Living Optics’ HSI technology enables authorities to rapidly examine a scene without disturbing or contaminating it—replacing chemical sprays and invasive techniques with clean, non-contact scanning. In the proof of concept, the system will detect signs of human presence and oil residues on water, providing key insights into illegal border crossings by boat or aircraft. The camera’s compact design allows potential integration with drones and CCTV infrastructure for wide-area or tactical surveillance applications.

Living Optics' technology has been validated in trials and research conducted with the UK Armed Forces, Singaporean defense accelerators, and NATO-affiliated science teams. It has the potential to detect landmines, assess battlefield damage, and spot wear and tear on equipment, giving security forces greater awareness while minimizing risk to personnel. Designed for deployment in urban and remote environments, the Living Optics camera is lightweight, rugged, and easy to use in the field or integrated into robots, drones, and vehicles.

The company’s imaging solution has broad applications across defense and homeland security, including surveillance enhancement, emergency response, and maintenance and inspection activities. It can detect burned or degraded materials in post-fire investigations, reveal signs of smuggling activity in hidden compartments, and identify stress or fatigue in structural materials. These capabilities are transforming how military and security professionals gather and act on intelligence, making hyperspectral vision a mission-critical advantage.

About Living Optics
Living Optics is revolutionizing machine vision by making hyperspectral imaging widely accessible. Its full-stack solution—combining pioneering cameras with advanced software—captures rich spectral data far beyond the reach of human vision or conventional imaging systems. This empowers AI-enhanced insights across a wide range of real-world applications, including food, healthcare, security, academia, and industry.
A spinout from the University of Oxford, Living Optics is backed by leading investors and headquartered in the U.K., with a growing global presence spanning Europe, the Americas, and Asia. In September 2022, the company raised $25 million in Series A funding to accelerate the commercial rollout of its breakthrough platform.

Air India Innovates with Agentic AI Adoption By Collaborating with Salesforce Agentforce for Enhanced Customer Experience

Agentforce will help Air India automate customer service processes, improve agent productivity, and deliver faster issue resolution

Mumbai, April 15, 2025 — Salesforce, the world’s #1 AI CRM*, today announced the expansion of its collaboration with Air India with the adoption of Salesforce Agentforce. As part of its ongoing digital transformation, Air India is among the first airlines to go-live with Agentforce, leveraging it to automate key customer service processes. The first roll out of Agentforce in customer service will help drive faster resolution of a class of refund issues, and elevate its customer experience at scale.

Air India has been a long-standing Salesforce customer, using Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Data Cloud and Einstein AI to power its customer engagement and business operations. The latest expansion marks a strategic step towards becoming an AI-infused airline, focused on delivering seamless, responsive, and personalised experiences for its passengers using emerging agentic AI technologies bolstered by its extensive data fabric.

Addressing a high-impact customer challenge with AI-powered automation

Refund requests often require multiple handoffs between Air India’s contact center, refunds team, and the customer,  which can occasionally slow down resolution times.

By deploying Salesforce Agentforce, Air India is reimagining this process through adoption of agentic AI. The solution streamlines and accelerates the end-to-end handling of such requests — automating routine steps, reducing human effort, and enabling agents to focus on higher-value interactions. Customers now benefit from faster resolutions, timely refund processing, and proactive updates.

Following the successful implementation of their first use case, Air India plans to scale the use of Agentforce across other contact center operations and customer touchpoints, including voice-based interactions, over the next several months.

Comments on the news:

Arundhati Bhattacharya, President & CEO at Salesforce - South Asia, said, "Agentforce represents the next frontier of customer service — where AI works alongside humans to deliver faster, smarter, and more personalized experiences at scale. With its adoption of Agentforce, Air India is setting a new benchmark for modern, AI-driven customer engagement in the aviation industry globally. Their vision of becoming an AI-first airline aligns perfectly with Salesforce’s commitment to help businesses automate at scale, deliver faster service, and foster loyalty through every interaction.”

Dr. Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital & Technology Officer for Air India, said, “We are happy to partner with Salesforce in pioneering Agentforce in the aviation industry, starting with transforming how we manage certain classes of refund cases using cutting-edge Agentic AI — drastically reducing resolution times. For our guests, this means instant acknowledgment of these claims with real-time updates and a seamless experience across all touchpoints, reinforcing trust and valuing their loyalty. This isn’t just a technological leap—it’s a customer-first commitment, delivering faster, smarter, and more empathetic service to our valued guests at every step.”

Powering Air India’s broader digital transformation

Agentforce complements Air India’s broader digital transformation roadmap, where Salesforce continues to be a trusted technology partner. Beyond Service Cloud and Sales Cloud, Air India already leverages Salesforce Data Cloud to unify customer data and Einstein AI to drive insights and personalization across the customer journey.

As the airline accelerates its transformation journey, future deployments of Agentforce, including AI-driven voice capabilities, are expected to further strengthen Air India’s customer engagement strategy.

106 Years Ago Today: The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre — Kesari Chapter 2 brings the forgotten Hero who fought back

April 13, 1919. A date etched in blood and memory. Exactly 106 years ago today, thousands of unarmed civilians gathered peacefully at Jallianwala Bagh — only to be gunned down without warning.

Now, in 2025, director Karan Singh Tyagi makes his big-screen debut with Kesari Chapter 2 — a powerful retelling of the tragedy and the courageous legal battle that followed, led by C. Sankaran Nair, the man who dared to take on the British Empire.

The film sheds light on how Sankaran Nair, a senior Indian member of the Viceroy’s council and once knighted by the Empire, stood up and fought for the truth after the brutal massacre in 1919. The story highlights how Nair proved that the massacre was not a reaction to a riot, but a calculated act — what we would today call genocide.

Director Karan Singh Tyagi believes the story is more relevant than ever. He says, "The event speaks to the present times that we live in. It's a post-truth world where fake news is rampant. I was fascinated that when people read about the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy, the next day, the truth was suppressed," says Tyagi.

He also points out how the British tried to silence every voice that spoke against the massacre."There were regional newspapers that wanted to report the truth, which got burned down. There's this famous poem written by a survivor called Khooni Baisakhi—the British Empire went to great lengths to ban that poem. The Empire started spreading a fake narrative... where the victims were labelled as terrorists... I think it's a fascinating story to bring to the people in 2025."

Tyagi's approach in the film is twofold — to explore what the British planned and did before and after April 13, 1919, and to examine the deeply human cost of it all. "This is the story of Sankaran Nair, who was knighted by the British Empire... For him to then take on the British in the most dramatic of ways is a story of valour. When he resigned from the council, he told the Viceroy [who can be compared to the PM today] that your empire is being run by yes-men so why don't you make the jamadar replace me."

Tyagi, a student of law and politics, was drawn to the story for its deep political and emotional layers. The film is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire, written by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, Nair's great-grandson and his wife. Tyagi also dug deep into historical research — reading books by authors like Kim Wagner, V.N. Datta, and Kishwar Desai, along with survivor accounts and government commissions.

One of the film’s boldest arguments is that the massacre wasn’t spontaneous — it was deliberate.

"There was a plane that flew over the Bagh to check whether enough people had assembled. There were troops called in — Gurkha troops and Baluch soldiers — and the Sikh infantry was kept completely in the dark because they would be up in arms if they knew."

Tyagi recalls being deeply disturbed after watching a documentary where General Dyer's great-granddaughter defended his actions, calling the people gathered looters. "That interview really angered me. She labelled the people who came to Jallianwala as looters. The film is important because you'll be shocked to know that the empire went into overdrive after the massacre. They went to extreme lengths in order to laud General Dyer as a hero."

Despite being a star-driven film featuring Akshay Kumar, Kesari Chapter 2 began as an independent project. For Tyagi, the message is clear:

"Do you know Kesari is the colour of revolution? For us, the baton of revolution is being passed down to this story where one man is taking on the empire. Revolution seems like a big term but its essence is quite simple—standing up for what's right."

Tyagi also praises Kumar’s performance in the film and says, "He's been incredible in his support for me. I just want the audience to watch the film because I feel this is one of his best performances. He's heard stories from his grandfather, from his father. So he feels a personal connection to the tragedy."

As the film nears release, Tyagi hopes audiences walk away with one core message — best captured in the Pablo Neruda quote used in the film: "Empires perish because they listened to their lawyers and ministers and not to their poets. Empires have to listen to the common people of this country.”

Redevelopment with Responsibility and Pride: Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal (I.A.S., VP & CEO, MHADA) Stresses Public-Private Synergy at CREDAI-MCHI’s EODR 2.0 to Transform Mumbai’s Aging Housing Stock

With tenant entitlements at the core, over 40+ developers, 3000+ societies, and hundreds of stakeholders converge at Mumbai’s largest redevelopment conclave to build a transparent, inclusive future

Mumbai, April 12, 2025: CREDAI-MCHI’s Ease of Doing Redevelopment (EODR) 2.0 concluded on a high note today, marking a milestone in Mumbai’s journey towards responsible and future-ready urban renewal. Hosted at the Jio World Convention Centre, this one-day mega exhibition brought together 40+ leading developers and over 3000 housing societies, along with legal luminaries, urban planners, architects, and policymakers—firmly positioning EODR 2.0 as Mumbai’s definitive redevelopment platform.

Gracing the occasion, Shri Sanjeev Jaiswal (I.A.S., Vice President & CEO, MHADA) emphasised the need for robust public-private partnerships to revamp Mumbai’s timeworn housing stock. He said, “Mumbai’s landlocked nature makes land availability a perpetual challenge. The recent amendment to Section 91A, empowering MHADA to take over stalled projects, is both timely and necessary. Compensation to landowners, long a hurdle in cess building redevelopment, is now addressed with fair provisions under Section 79A. Redevelopment is not merely about constructing new buildings—it’s about viability, transparency, and timely delivery. A clear FSI framework and honest communication are key to safeguarding both tenant rights and project feasibility.”

The event witnessed active participation from more than 3,000 housing societies, who engaged in live consultations with developers and consultants. From legal advice and financial planning to design strategies and execution models, societies received holistic guidance to move ahead with clarity and confidence.

Boman Irani, President, CREDAI National and CMD of Rustomjee Group, underscored the importance of trust and due diligence, “There is a world of difference between the highest offer and the best offer. Societies must look beyond numbers—focus on a developer’s intent, track record, and financial strength. Redevelopment is a collaborative journey. Once your committee and consultants are appointed, trust them. Choose a transparent PMC and competent legal counsel, but avoid stalling progress by being overly cautious. This is a high-risk sector—only partnership and open dialogue can turn your dream home into reality.”

Domnic Romell, President, CREDAI-MCHI and Director of Romell Group, noted, “Redevelopment is driven by need, not greed. In today’s RERA-regulated era, the demand for excessive bank guarantees is both outdated and unnecessary. All funds are strictly monitored via escrow accounts. Understand your entitlements, such as the 35% fungible FSI, and make informed decisions with the right guidance. Let us move away from unrealistic expectations and outdated norms—redevelopment must work in the best interest of the residents.”

Dhaval Ajmera, Secretary, CREDAI-MCHI and Director at Ajmera Realty & Infra (I) Ltd. added, “EODR 2.0 is about empowerment. With 40+ reputed developers and 3000+ societies registered, we’re simplifying the process and building bridges of trust. This platform ensures that societies are equipped with the knowledge and support needed to transform their old structures into safe, modern homes.”

EODR 2.0 was more than an event—it was a movement. A movement towards dignified housing. Towards a modern Mumbai. Where societies don’t just find answers—they find partners for their redevelopment journey.
