Srila Prabhupada conferred with the title 'Vishwa Guru' during the Maha Kumbh

Akharas unitedly honour India's greatest cultural ambassador with the title for the first and only time in history

Mumbai, February 11, 2025: During the auspicious event of Maha Kumbh Mela, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON and Worldwide Hare Krishna Movement, was honoured with the title of Vishwa Guru by the Akhila Bharatiya Akhara Parishad. Srila Prabhupada is the first and only personality to receive this title in history.

HH Mahant Ravindra Puri Ji Maharaj, President of the Akhara Parishad, Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Niranjani Akhara, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Avadhoot Arun Giri Ji Maharaj of Awahan Akhara, other Mahamandaleshwars from various Akharas, secretaries, senior saints and thousands of devotees participated in the programme. Shri Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman and Mentor, Global Hare Krishna Movement and President of ISKCON Bangalore and Shri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice Chairman and Co-Mentor of Global Hare Krishna Movement and Senior Vice President of ISKCON Bangalore presided over the event.

The deity of Srila Prabhupada was offered an elaborate abhisheka, pushpa vrishti (showering of flowers), a grand arati and auspicious paraphernalia accompanied by sacred chants.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Madhu Pandit Dasa said, "It brings me and the entire ISKCON community immense joy and happiness to see that Srila Prabhupada, our Acharya, has been offered the title of Vishwa Guru on the auspicious occasion of Sri Nityananda Trayodashi, in the divine atmosphere of Maha Kumbh Mela. It is a matter of pride for us that Srila  Prabhupada has been recognised and honoured for making people accept Sanatana Dharma, our timeless ancient wisdom, Bharatiya culture and way of life beyond the shores of India. His pioneering efforts to propagate the message of Lord Krishna have transformed lakhs of people all over the world.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Akhila Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, HH Mahant Ravindra Puri Ji Maharaj, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj and Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Avadhoot Arun Giri Ji Maharaj for organising this wonderful event and honouring Srila Prabhupada. I also thank all the sadhus, pilgrims and devotees for participating in this momentous event. I pray to Lord Krishna to bless us with the strength and ability to continue our services to humanity and preserve Sanatana Dharma."

Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj said, "Undoubtedly, taking the Sanatana tradition to every household could have been possible only for a personality like  Srila Prabhupada who was sent by Lord Krishna Himself. The significance of the title Vishwa Guru has increased due to being bestowed upon Srila Prabhupada. I truly feel that the preaching of Krishna's pastimes, discussions, Srimad Bhagavad Gita, and Upanishads by Pujya Maharaj Srila Prabhupada is nothing but a result of Lord Krishna's divine grace.  This honour should have been conferred much earlier, ideally when  Srila Prabhupada went to the West and established ISKCON, but it was destined to be awarded at this sacred confluence of Triveni today. It is our good fortune that we have been blessed with the opportunity to confer the title upon him. Clearly, today, not only the ISKCON community but Sanatanis across the world are rejoicing and celebrating. We appreciate the great work being done by Sri Madhu Pandit Das Ji and Sri Chanchalapathi Das Ji. I wholeheartedly congratulate them and all the dedicated members of ISKCON Bangalore for their immense commitment."

HH Mahant Ravindra Puri Ji Maharaj said, "Srila Prabhupada, Bharat's spiritual philosopher and religious teacher, whom we have honoured today, is so great that giving him the title of Vishwa Guru is like offering a lamp to the sun. Following his guru, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur's instructions, he made the message of the Bhagavad Gita and the glories of Vedanta accessible to everyone.

I urge the youth to join this institution in spreading the message of the Gita across the world. It was Swamiji's unwavering determination that led him to reach America in 1965 without any resources or assistance. Today, ISKCON has more than 450 temples worldwide.

Honouring someone as great as Srila Prabhupada with the title of Vishwa Guru is a matter of pride, not just for me, not just for us, but for everyone present here."

Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Avadhoot Arun Giri Ji Maharaj said, "Srila Prabhupada spread Sanatana Dharma across the world at a time when our country was facing various challenges. It is truly incredible that he went abroad to propagate Sanatan Dharma despite such a situation.

We are honoured to confer the title of Vishwa Guru to Srila Prabhupada under the guidance of Niranjani Peethadheeshwar, Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj and in the presence of the Akhara Parishad President Mahant Ravindra Puri Ji Maharaj."

Aalim Hakim shares 3 Trending Hairstyles for the Perfect Date Night

February is all about love, romance, and making memories! Whether you're heading out for a dreamy dinner, a fun night with your special someone, or keeping it cosy with a candle-lit meal at home, the way you present yourself can make all the difference. A well-styled look doesn’t just complete your outfit; it makes you feel good and effortlessly ready for the moment.

Balancing a hectic daily routine while achieving a perfectly groomed look can be challenging. However, the right hair styling product can work wonders. To simplify your styling routine, Chief Styling officer - Set Wet, Aalim Hakim shares three trending hairstyles to help you look your best this Valentine’s Day:

The faded faux hawk hairstyle: If you’re looking to make a bold statement that lasts through the night, the faded faux hawk is your go-to. With short, faded sides and strong volume on top, this style has just the right amount of edge. To create this look, take a small amount of wax and apply it on your hair, styling it upwards. Faux Hawk is a modern mohawk with texture and volume on sides tapering into drop fade. For a more defined look, opt for a styling gel or wax and finish it with a hair spray for long hold that provides a finish that lasts throughout the day.

Modern spiked up hair: Spiked-up hair will always be a thing. To achieve this look, take a coin-sized amount of a medium to strong-hold styling gel and distribute it evenly through your hair while pushing it diagonally upwards. Use your fingers to shape and define the spikes, running them from the base to the tips for a sharp, structured finish. Hair gels come in varying strengths, so choose one that provides the level of hold you need for a lasting, well-groomed look.

The effortless date-night look: For a more relaxed yet stylish look, you can opt for a textured hairstyle. Start by using a hair spray or a matte styling wax to create texture and hold. As you blow-dry, gently scrunch your hair with your hands to enhance natural waves and create a laid-back, effortless finish. The result? A perfectly undone yet polished style that seems effortless cool—like you woke up looking this good. It's the ideal balance of carefree and chic, making it perfect for any occasion.

To ace the above hairstyles, Aalim Hakim recommends you choose from a wide range of Set Wet hair styling products - right from gels with varying holds to suit your hairstyle to waxes, hair sprays and powders. These products are free of alcohol and harmful chemicals like sulphates, ensuring they do not disrupt the moisture levels in your hair, keeping it healthy. So this Valentine’s Day, elevate your style with a trendy hairstyle that showcases your charm, confidence, and unique personality.

CHEMEXCIL projects the target of USD 31.53 billion for 2024-2

Mumbai, February 8, 2025

The 48th CHEMEXCIL Export Award ceremony was held in Mumbai today. The event was graced by the presence of Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Smt. Anupriya Patel.

Union Minister Anupriya Patel highlighted the crucial role of the Basic Chemicals, Cosmetics & Dyes Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL) in boosting India’s chemical exports. Established in 1963 by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, CHEMEXCIL facilitates the global trade of dyes, dye intermediates, inorganic and organic chemicals, agrochemicals, cosmetics, toiletries, essential oils, and castor oil, among other products.

The total exports under CHEMEXCIL’s purview from April 2023 to March 2024 stood at USD 29.34 billion. For the April 2024 to December 2024 period, exports reached USD 21.20 billion, reflecting a 4.76% growth over USD 20.24 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.CHEMEXCIL has projected the target of USD 31.53 billion for the period 2024-25.

The chemical sector is among the fastest growing Indian industries. Majority of the chemicals produced in India comprise either upstream products or intermediates, which go into a variety of manufacturing applications including fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, textiles and plastics, agrochemicals, paints and dyes, etc.

India is the 6th largest producer of chemicals in the world and 3rd in Asia, contributing 7% to India’s GDP. The Indian chemical industry is currently valued at US$ 220 billion and is expected to reach US$ 300 billion by 2030 and US$ 1 trillion by 2040.

Globally, India is the 4th largest producer of agrochemicals after the United States, Japan and China. India accounts for 16-18% of the world's production of dyestuffs and dye intermediates. Indian colourants industry has emerged as a key player with a global market share of ~15%. Indian chemicals contribute 2.8 to 3% of total global chemical industry which employs more than 2 million people.

CHEMEXCIL Chairman Shri Abhay Udeshi welcomed the Union Budget 2025-26, which introduced duty relief for key chemicals critical to the Indian chemical industry. With 65% of chemical firms being MSMEs, the budget offers significant support such as enhanced credit guarantee and greater access to capital for technological upgrades and capacity building.
