RESOURCEFUL EDUCATION FOUNDATION FINANCIAL HELP TO UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS

The Resourceful Education Foundation, NGO based in Wakad, Pune has embraced 150 underprivileged students and look to address their education fee of Rs. 2614793 through the support of individual sponsors and conscious corporates.

Mr Amarpal Singh, Founder of the Resourceful Education Foundation (REF) was pleased to see the future of these deserving students being secured through higher education.

Mr Singh, an alumnus of IIM Bangalore dream of giving back to society was realized through REF, NGO, dedicated to the social development of society through education for all. He plans to spread this service pan India helping the underprivileged students gain knowledge and wisdom to boost the economy of our country through sound education. 

“We are looking to grow and change the lives of underprivileged students in thousands and more. We have already extended support to over 150 students and looking forward to reach out to more in the months ahead,” said Mr Singh on an optimistic note.

 Resourceful Education Foundation (REF), an NGO incorporated on April 23, 2018, till date, has helped underprivileged students with the financial aid of Rs 2614793. The REF will further fund more underprivileged students on completion of certain modalities by the education institutes under their purview. 
REF has certain parameters for selecting eligible underprivileged students. After obtaining documents like income proof, Aadhaar card, 12th Std. the mark sheet and their past academic history, students are shortlisted at REF office based at Wakad, Pune.

There are two-layer of screening done of students along with their parents or guardians. The sponsorship for the deserving underprivileged student thereafter is decided by Mr Singh, Founder of REF after a one-on-one interview with the students.

Resourceful Education Foundation (REF) NGO, is registered under Section 8 of The Companies Act, 2013 with CIN: U85200PN2018PTC176205 to provide financial assistance to underprivileged students on completion of their 12 Std. 

The task of getting sponsors is a tedious job that is meticulously executed by REF professionals.
The NGO cannot stand on its own and relies on support only from individual donors and volunteers but in addition to this it also requires the corporates to showcase their social responsibility under CSR.

Resourceful Education Foundation (REF) NGO, has met challenges catching up with big corporates and at the same time adhering to deadlines extending monetary support to the underprivileged students. 

 “We have been continuously striving to assist more underprivileged students and guide them to emerge as responsible citizens of our country,” said Mr Singh.
 “We can comprehend with the situation these underprivileged students went through or experienced. My education journey too was a struggle which I overcame with grace and dignity only because of proper education," said Dr Rotash Kanwar, Advisory Committee of REF and Ex-Director of Health Services, Ordnance Factory Board, Kolkata.

Dr Kanwar is very active in the NGO service and plays a vital role in screening of eligible underprivileged students.
NGOs alone cannot serve the society on their own and hence corporates need to play their vital role in the upliftment of the underprivileged students.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the funding and grants process under which NGOs can get financial and other support from the corporate sector. 
More than 90 per cent of funding for underprivileged student’s welfare projects come from the corporate sector.

REF, is an NGO for CSR with a widespread presence in rural urban slums of Maharashtra. REF is looking to impact the lives of more than 1000 underprivileged students in the villages and urban slums spread across Maharashtra.
Being only a little over a year old, REF has already been able to fund the underprivileged students through our network. REF partners are directly involved in welfare projects and are poised to emerge as one of the best NGOs for CSR in India.

First Asian to win the coveted Award

Indian Ashwani Neeraj has won the Mr Grand International 2019 competition at Av. Pedro Adams Filho, Novo Hamburgo in Brazil. This is the 1st time that any Asian has won this prestigious international pageant.

Apart for winning the main title, Ashwani has also won the     special award for Best National Costume at the same international pageant. The pageant is one among the foremost well-established international pageants for men, primarily based in the Latin American region.

Last year (2018), Ashwani Neeraj won the annual Rubaru Mr India competition persisted March 10, 2018 in Goa. Furthermore, earlier this year (2019), the Rubaru cluster, the parent organization of Rubaru Mr India contest had appointed Ashwani to represent India at Mr Grand International contest. The Rubaru Mr India pageant is India's biggest and oldest running annual pageant for men. The pageant was created in the year 2004 and has been happening annually ever since its inception.

After winning both the titles Ashwani quoted "It’s a great feeling to have become the first Asian to win this award. India’s biggest-ever technical textiles fair Techtextil India opens today with a 23% surge in exhibitors reflecting the progressive sector


An industry growing at a CAGR of 20 percent to reach USD 28.7 billion, technical textiles is one of the most dynamic sectors in India. Techtextil India 2019, the leading platform to source products using technical textiles reflect the industry with the biggest opening received this year. The expo has grown exponentially over the years, bringing together all the stakeholder on one platform.” He added, “In India, the growth in on-road cars are as high as 15% as against bus transportation, which is virtually stagnated. We need to move from using personal vehicle to utilizing public transport system, and for that, the country requires a robust public transport system in each state.”

Shekhar Channe, Transport Commissioner, Maharashtra said, “The government has decided to equip around 50 RTO offices with IDTR system. Within three months, 90 services for the citizens will be online and no human intervention will be required, except for the driving tests. TrafficInfraTech Expo will be the platform to identify the IT solutions for the traffic sector.”

On implementing new technologies in Maharashtra, Vinay Korgaonkar, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Maharashtra said, “The State always adopts advanced technology. Hence, to streamline the traffic in Mumbai and other parts of the State, we are implementing various transport management solutions. One of them is ITMS in Mumbai and on Pune Express Highway.”

While addressing the august gathering, Katsuo Matsumoto, Chief Representative, JICA said, “There is a need to develop reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and trans-
border infrastructure.”

Speaking about speed related behaviour on Indian Highways, Ravin Mirchandani, Chairman, Ador Powertron Ltd said, “Speeding is a major cause of road fatalities in India and to mitigate this, we have come up with a technology designed for road speed enforcement.”

UK INDIA BUSINESS COUNCIL RELEASES ANNUAL DOING BUSINESS IN INDIA REPORT FOR 2019

UK companies are upbeat about the ease of doing business in India, particularly Maharashtra and Brexit has stimulated more of them to engage more deeply with India

The UK India Business Council (UKIBC) has released its 5th annual Doing Business in India Report. The report is based on the results of extensive discussions, including a roundtable in London with Commerce Minister Goyal, and a survey that captured the views of UK companies and higher education institutions on the operating environment in India and their reform priorities.

Overall, the survey respondents were positive about India, with 56% stating that it is getting easier to do business in India, and only 21% saying that it has not improved.

Perhaps the most positive message in the report for Mr. Modi’s Government is the dramatic drop in perceptions of corruption. When the UKIBC published its first Doing Business in India report in 2014, over 50% of respondents cited corruption as a top barrier to operating in India. This figure has improved year on year, and in 2019 it dropped to 17.5%. There is clearly still work to do to eliminate all forms of corruption, but the continued reduction is a positive.

The most persistent barrier to doing business continues to be ‘legal and regulatory impediments’, which were cited by 59% of respondents as a major barrier. 'Identifying a suitable partner' and ‘taxation issues’ are the next two most cited barriers.

It is therefore no surprise that the most popular reform among UK businesses is ‘improving the quality of bureaucracy, with 28.6 percent of respondents urging the Government of India to act in this area.

The second most popular reform request was related to the bureaucracy, with 16.9% of respondents calling for a ‘simplification of the Goods and Services Tax (GST)’.

Nevertheless, it is worth noting that calls for the simplification of GST have reduced from 24 percent in 2018, reflecting that companies are coming to grips with India’s new tax system, and India has improved its implementation since the original rollout.

The Government of India announced the reduction of India’s corporate tax rate (from 30% to 25.17% after cess and surcharges are accounted for) prior to the completion of our survey, perhaps one reason as to why India’s previously high corporate tax rate was not mentioned by our respondents.

The highest scoring aspects of the Indian business environment continue to be tele-communication facilities, closely followed by the availability of skilled labour, the availability of support and service providers, and the availability of supply chain.

For the first time, the UKIBC canvassed views on how India’s States and Union Territories are performing on the ease of doing business. When asked “which states are making the most improvements on business environment?”, Maharashtra was the clear winner, with 36.67 percent of respondents giving it the honour, followed by Delhi, which captured 20 percent of the vote.

Maharashtra has been a preferred destination for UK businesses consistently with topping the charts in UKIBC EODB 2018 also. The evidence is there with the number of UK businesses that have set up a base or manufacturing units in this State over the years.

With Brexit on the agenda of UK companies, 26 percent said that they planned to do more business with India as a direct result of the UK leaving the EU. This will be a further boost to the flow of goods, services and investment between the two countries.  

On presenting the report to Dr P Anbalagan, CEO, MIDC by UKIBC Managing Director, Kevin McCole, Kevin had following to say, “it is no surprise that UK businesses have recognised that Maharashtra has out-performed other states in improving the ease of doing business, or that it is the preferred investment destination for UK corporates, across all sectors. The way the State Government has engaged with UK investors over the last few years has been impressive, particularly because the focus has been on solving ease of doing business issues.”
