PCPIR Rejuvenation Study launched at Summit on Global Chemicals & Petrochemicals Manufacturing Hubs in India 2019

Co-hosted by FICCI, the first of its kind two-day summit was inaugurated by Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India

In its endeavor to strive robust advancement in the Indian Chemical & Petrochemicals industry, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) jointly with the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India today launched the PCPIR Rejuvenation Study at the ‘Summit on Global Chemicals & Petrochemicals Manufacturing Hubs in India 2019’.

The PCPIR Rejuvenation Study, by FICCI and their knowledge partner Mott MacDonald, highlights the continuous development of Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Regions (PCPIR), its current scenario and government’s roadmap for policy interventions to rejuvenate investment in PCPIRs. It has stated that India is the sixth largest producer of chemicals in the world and contributes 3.4% to the global chemical industry. The chemicals market in India has grown at 3% over the last decade. The industry comprises of 13.38% of manufacturing GVA and 2.39% of National GVA which employs about 2 million people.

The Government of India adopted a policy in 2007 to set up Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Regions (PCPIR). Currently there are four identified regions - Dahej (Gujarat), Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Paradip (Odisha) and Cuddalore (Tamil Nadu). However, due to a wide range of issues (ranging from overall infrastructure development to project financing), attracting investment to Vizag, Paradip and Cuddalore has been relatively challenging in comparison to Dahej. Considering the overall scenario, the government has now planned for policy interventions to rejuvenate investment in PCPIRs.

Speaking about extraordinary role of Chemicals and Petrochemicals Industry in shaping the other industries, Mr. D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India said, “The Indian Chemical & Petrochemical Industry is currently witnessing a rapid expansion. The untapped potential of this industry needs to be addressed which holds the power to bring a revolution in the country. The industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.3% from USD 163 billion to USD 304 billion market by 2025, which not only emphasizes the important role it can play in the growth of Indian economy but to become the global leaders in petrochemicals and emerge itself as world’s next manufacturing hub. We are honoured to partner with FICCI to host first of its kind Summit on Global Chemicals & Petrochemicals Manufacturing Hubs in India 2019.”

Commenting on the significance of the report launch, Mr. Deepak C. Mehta, Chairman – FICCI Chemical Industry Committee and CMD, Deepak Nitrite Ltd. said, “It is my privilege to be a part of Summit on Global Chemicals & Petrochemicals Manufacturing Hubs in India 2019 and meet the entire industry fraternity at this important event. The Indian Chemical and Petrochemical industry is an integral part of the Indian economy and possess huge unrealized potential to strengthen the Indian economy. The PCPIR Rejuvenation Study connotes the chemicals market in India has grown at 3% over the last decade, current development and policy interventions to rejuvenate investment in PCPIRs.”

“The government’s initiative towards successful implementation of Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Regions (PCPIR), shoring up existing infrastructure to world class level is truly commendable. We at FICCI are really obligated to Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Government of India for their valuable support and guidance in organizing the first ever summit of its kind.” he added.

Across the summit, eminent speakers from the industry like Mr. Nikhil Meswani, Executive Director, Reliance Industries Limited, Mr. R Mukundan, Managing Director & CEO, Tata Chemicals Ltd., Mr. Sanjeev Gandhi, Members of the Board of Executive Directors, BASF SE, Mr. Walmir Soller, CEO, Braskem Europe, Mr. Prabh Das, Chairman - FICCI Petrochemical and Plastic Industry Committee, MD & CEO, HPCL Mittal Energy Limited, amongst others were a part of it.

Kiabza partnering with the upcoming blockbuster movie Pati Patni Aur Woh!

Upcoming Hindi Film, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ which is due for release on the 6th of December 2019 has Kiabza as their partners. Kiabza is a website for pre-owned branded fashion - a unique marketplace for people to buy and sell branded, authentic & hand-picked pre-owned fashion. The crew of the film is believed to have used fashion products resold by Kiabza. The film is a romantic comedy and a remake of a 1978 film of the same name which starred Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha, and Ranjeeta. The new avatar of the Film stars current heartthrob Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday. It is also being reported that the clothes worn by the stars in the film would be resold on Kiabza.com, post its release.

Kiabza.com, which is a Mumbai based re-commerce website benefits Sellers and Buyers alike. It encourages Sellers to consign their pre-owned branded clothing and earn easy cash for their products. Buyers can get the best brands at prices which are a fraction of their original costs. KIABZA is a new venture of the Founders of 'The Kishco Group’, a 4 generation old international textile business house very well recognized and valued worldwide.

Second-hand shopping has been growing increasingly more popular, and equally more enticing as studies continue to surface about the degradation of the environment. Today, the resale market in USA is worth more than $24 billion, with an estimated growth of $51 billion by 2023. The cause for this huge disruption in the fashion industry is largely due to the efforts of millennials and Gen Z members, who are 2.5 times more likely to purchase second-hand items faster than any other age group.

Kiabza has an approved list of more than 1500 brands, which are a mix of domestic as well as international brands including everyday high street brands like Zara, Mango, Vero Moda, M&S, etc. and premium brands like Armani, Burberry, Versace, Hugo Boss and many more. A Seller can put together branded clothing from his/her entire family closet for Kiabza and they take care of everything, right from curating a product to delivering it to the buyer and paying the seller for the same. The entire process is hassle-free and the products are always in great condition.

Lending inspiration are the rich celebrities who have made it “fashionable to repeat”. The pre-owned luxury fashion is likely to continue with its exponential growth in the upcoming years. For the millennial embracing second-hand, however, it is not a subconscious habit but a conscious choice. And their second-hand is not something they scrounge from downmarket shopping areas, but are items that are “cool” and come with a backstory. People want to weave a narrative around the pre-owned stuff they have acquired.

The Founder & CEO, Nohar Nath has 20 plus years of experience in the textile recycling industry having run Kishco Group’s business, which is primarily based on the recycling of textiles. He has a Master’s in Business Administration (Marketing) from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS). He is an active and much sought after speaker at various forums across the globe. He has delivered speeches at the World Recycling Conference in 2015 and again in 2017. He is a national level golfer with many laurels, including winning the World Corporate Golf Challenge in 2008 in Spain.

About Projects | Process
Anything done well must have a story to tell about its making, a process that allowed for it to evolve and realize itself into its final form; be it a musical composition, a painting, or simply the making of a delectable meal. We usually experience and admire the end product and most often remain oblivious to the painstaking, often devotional journey of its making; its process from concept to completion; the rigor and passion that it must so relentlessly involve.

This makes for significant archival material and if shared as stories, are critical to: learn from, aspire to and bring hope and reassurance, especially in a world that increasingly looks to instant results and instant gratification.

G5A is bringing back Projects | Process, a series of sessions where artists, performers, theatre-makers, and designers will talk about the significance of process and its relevance to project-making in contemporary India, while sharing insights into the development of an ongoing or a recent piece of work.

Top Energy Company in India ONGC concludes first transaction worth 1 Cr on TReDS of M1xchange

In a significant development, M1xchange, one of the foremost exchanges dealing in Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS), has successfully transacted with ONGC, an Indian Multinational Crude Oil and Gas Corporation. The digital platform of M1xchange came into being in April 2017 to serve micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which usually struggle to stay afloat due to paucity of working capital. While the private sector came on-board swiftly, PSUs have on-boarded TReDS recently. A total of 36 PSUs have been on-boarded and about 9 have joined M1xchange in the last quarter.

The coming together of M1xchange and ONGC would address the financing concerns of MSMEs in the energy sector, an important segment of the economy. Other PSUs such as Indian Oil, HPCL, BPCL, ONGC Videsh, NTPC, GAIL, etc. are also a part of TReDS on M1xchange. Launched by outsourcing and consulting firm Mynd Solutions, the use of TReDS is aimed at improving the flow of funds to the MSMEs by reducing the realization cycles of receivables. TReDS allows MSMEs to post their trade receivables on the system and get them financed.
“We welcome ONGC on board. This is an important development for M1xchange as it reflects the growing trust and confidence of PSUs where systems were not geared for TReDS but slowly they are reconfiguring their approval cycles to be able to extend the benefit of Digital financing to larger set of MSME vendors and fulfill the objective of TREDS, towards the growth of economy," said Sundeep Mohindru, CEO, M1xchange.
As the largest crude oil and natural gas Company in India, contributing around 75 per cent to Indian domestic production, ONGC ranks 11th among global energy majors.
"TReDS is the effective mechanism created by Government for financing Micro and small enterprises. Consistent with our aim to facilitate our Business partners we are encouraging more MSE suppliers to participate and benefit from the TReDS platform. At ONGC we are of the view that the TReDS initiative has the potential to solve the working capital related issues for MSE vendors efficiently at lower cost. " said Mr. Subhash Kumar, Director (Finance), ONGC.
The digital platform is known to offer transparency and helps in taking quick decisions on offering funding to MSME sector which is the backbone of India’s economy.
About M1Xchange
M1xchange is an RBI approved TReDS (Trade Receivable Discounting System) platform. TReDS is an institutional mechanism set up in order to facilitate the financing of trade receivables of MSMEs from corporate buyers through multiple financiers. TReDS will boost the Indian economy by solving the erratic cash flow problems of MSMEs caused due to slow paying invoices. M1Xchange has digitally transformed the vender payment ecosystem and the way MSMEs generate working capital. This has been achieved through seamless presentation of bills, their validation, discounting, and approval of funds on a single platform. There is no need for additional collaterals to raise money through the platform.
More details on M1Xchange can be accessed at http://www.m1xchange.com/. The utility of TReDS has been explained through videos at http://www.m1xchange.com/videos.php

Organic farming is not NEW to India. In fact its native to India!!

Mumbai In developing countries like ours, where 3/4th of people below the poverty line live in rural areas and where more than 80% of rural people live in households that are involved in agriculture, improving poor farmers' livelihoods is central for addressing rural development. In recent times, organic farming has increasingly gained attention as a way to manage natural resources in a more sustainable way and to raise incomes especially of smallholder farms.

Our agricultural and farming systems need to be reinvented to cater to the changing times. Many of our farmers are underpaid, malnourished, are frequently using chemicals that harm their health, and rely on practices that seriously degrade their land. Not only this, the food that they are producing is often coated in harmful chemicals, has little taste and is low in essential nutrients.

Organic farming provides a high premium for the farmers produce with low capital investment and the ability to use traditional knowledge. Organic farming normally does not involve capital investment as high as that required in chemical farming. Furthermore, since organic fertilizers and pesticides can be produced locally, the yearly costs incurred by the farmer are also low

High Premium
Organic food is normally priced 20-30% higher than conventional food. This premium is very important for a small farmer whose income might only be sufficient to feed his/her family with one meal.

Low Investment
Organic farming normally does not involve capital investment as high as that required in chemical farming. Furthermore, since organic fertilizers and pesticides can be produced locally, the yearly costs incurred by the farmer are also low. Agriculture greatly depends on external factors such as climate, pests, and disease. Furthermore, most of the small farmers are dependent on natural rain for water. Therefore, in cases of natural calamity, pest or disease attack, or irregular rainfall, when there is a crop failure, small farmers practicing organic farming have to suffer less as their investments are low. It should be noted that while shifting from chemical farming to organic farming, the transition might be costly

Traditional Knowledge
Small farmers have an abundance of traditional knowledge with them and within their community. Most of this traditional knowledge cannot be used for chemical farming. However, when it comes to organic farming, farmers can make use of this traditional knowledge. Furthermore, in cases of organic farming, small farmers are not dependent on those who provide chemical know-how.

For us at  NATCO trust Promoting rural livelihoods is one of the core focus areas We  ignited the thought of organic farming in farmers, for which the process was laid in the year 2017 in Gollamudipadu Village (native place of our Chairman and Managing Director). About 75% of the community here directly depends on agriculture and farm-based livelihoods.  We are actively engaged in promoting

·       Nutrition Gardens
There are various social benefits that have emerged from establishing the Nutrition gardening practices in four villages. Some of these benefits are improvements in health, enhanced incomes, and nutrition security within the household. Nutrition gardening has also proved cost effective and a sustainable method for producing organic vegetables.

·       Intervention in Agriculture

we motivated the community through a series of awareness programs and imparted technical training to 87 farmers and arranged interaction with the progressive farmers for further learning.

Promoting seed bank concept
This concept is aimed at conservation of indigenous gene pool. It involves propagation and development of the indigenous paddy varieties having Aroma and Medicinal Properties. We helped to propagate six varieties of indigenous rice varieties for further multiplication and conservation. Distributed seeds to three farmers for multiplication purpose and after cultivation

Lets all be a part of this Organic Re-ignition to protect our nature and ourselves!!

  • West Bengal, Bihar and Telangana List Highest Growth
  • Fashion & Lifestyle products and Mobile phone accessories most Popular Categories

Leading e-commerce platform Club Factory has registered over 700% growth (in terms of order volume) this Diwali as compared to last year. The platform saw the highest growth in West Bengal, Bihar and Telangana with its mobile phone accessories, fashion and lifestyle products emerging as the most sought-after product categories. Small and Medium Enterprise sellers continue to drive growth for Club Factory, constituting over 70% of the total seller base.  More than 100 local sellers achieved a record of 15,000+ orders per day during the Club Diwali Sale.

The Diwali Sale has further boosted Club Factory’s growth in India, which was the world’s most installed shopping app on Google Play Store in the month of September 2019, according to Sensor Tower’s Store Intelligence platform. Club Factory has also surpassed Snapdeal to become the 3rd largest shopping app (in terms of MAUs) in India since June 2019 after retaining the #1 rank in Google Play Shopping App category (according to data analytics platform App Annie).

Mr. Vincent Lou, Founder and CEO, Club Factory said, “Major Diwali sales events are focused on mobile phones and electronics and we have provided space for smaller fashion & lifestyle sellers to participate in the festive season. The strategy has been a huge success as we see customers also have a vast demand for the lifestyle products we offer. While demand from tier-II and III cities has outperformed, net increase in metro cities remains strong as people are more familiar with e-commerce shopping and the price competitiveness of Club Factory remains a major hit. We are growing rapidly along with the market demand in India.”

“We have achieved more than 10 times growth in the past six months for our Indian SME business. This success is a testimony to our vision and strategy for the India market, and we envision an era of FAC (Flipkart, Amazon, Club Factory) to be the future of India's e-commerce market. India is a tremendous market that has diverse needs. We believe the future of India e-commerce will witness an e-tailer focusing on branded items and bigger sellers, an online grocery shopping platform that provides daily necessities, and a diverse bazaar alike marketplace that enable all sort of products to thrive. While Amazon and Flipkart are competing in the first two categories, our strategy is to tap into the bazaar like marketplace. Our recent success is proof and testimony to our approach & strategy”. Mr. Lou added

Club Factory is the only e-commerce player in India that does not charge any commission fee from sellers, providing a fair marketplace where both the sellers and buyers are benefitted. The majority of the sellers are from the states of Delhi and Gujarat. This Diwali, sellers from Delhi and Surat clocked in highest sales in the categories of ‘Men’s T Shirt’ and ‘Women’s Ethnic Wears’ respectively.

Club Factory is also making significant investments in infrastructure and technology to create a thriving ecosystem for sellers and Indian SMEs. The company has 3 warehouses to meet the demand for quick product delivery and has opened a new warehouse in Mumbai. Club Factory has also partnered with some local top-tier logistics players for fulfillment and last-mile logistics space and to provide a faster delivery in India. The platform will soon expand its range of products to deliver more offerings across different categories.

Gilly joins the team to promote Western Australia to Indian travellers

·         Western Australian Premier on inaugural visit to India to strengthen economic ties and boost tourism
·         Cricket legend Adam Gilchrist joins Premier Mark McGowan in India
·         McGowan Government to invest $1 million to promote Western Australia in India

Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist has joined the head of the Western Australian Government, Premier Mark McGowan, in India to promote Australia’s largest State as a holiday destination.

Premier McGowan today announced his Government, through Tourism Western Australia, would invest an additional $1 million to encourage more Indians to holiday in WA.

Mr McGowan also introduced Mr Gilchrist as Western Australia’s new tourism “opening batsman” to help promote the State as a holiday destination.

The Premier and Mr Gilchrist’s visit has included meetings with Indian media, travel trade representatives and airline representatives in a bid to increase leisure and business visitation to WA, with a focus on encouraging Indians to travel to WA for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup.

The additional $1 million funding will also raise awareness of WA as a holiday destination in the lead up to the cricket and help to encourage direct flights between India and Perth. It will be invested in cooperative marketing campaigns, trade education, consumer awareness, media and public relations activities.

The visit has also seen Mr McGowan and Mr Gilchrist take part in a charity kids’ cricket clinic for the Magician Foundation, which uses sport to promote education and important life skills to children living in India’s poor communities. The Premier donated cricket kits to the foundation, on behalf of the people of Western Australia, to help its expansion into cricket.

India is a growing tourism market for Western Australia. In 2018-19 there was an 11.1 per cent overall growth in visitor numbers from India to 30,900, with leisure visitors increasing by 15.3 per cent to 14,100.

Tourism Western Australia committed funds to market Western Australia in India for the first time just over 12 months ago.

The initial wave of marketing activity coincided with the first-ever cricket test match to be played at Perth Stadium in December 2018.

Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:

“Growing the number of Indian people visiting Western Australia is a priority for the State Government and we’ve committed an additional $1 million to our marketing efforts to help achieve this goal.”

“Having cricketing legend Adam Gilchrist on the team as ‘WA’s Opening Batsman’ is a great opportunity to help promote our great State in the lead up to the T20 Cricket World Cup matches in Perth next year.”

“We know India loves cricket and Gilly is a living legend over here and he’s been a major asset in promoting WA.”

“Visitor numbers are up so we know there is appetite for people in India to visit Western Australia and there are huge possibilities to grow this market even further.”

Comments attributed to Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:
“Western Australia has so much to offer Indian travellers, whether they’re visiting for business, education or leisure.

“We know they are interested in nature and wildlife, coastlines, beaches and marine wildlife, good food, wine, local cuisine and a family friendly destination - everything WA has to offer in spades.”

“Our capital city boasts some of the best hotels in Australia, an ever-growing restaurant and bar scene, thriving entertainment precincts and is a launch pad to a diverse range of stunning regional destinations. “

“Perth is also only five hours from and on the same time zone as Singapore, making it easy for Indians to travel to Western Australia.”

“India is a very important market and we will be focusing our efforts, through this new marketing investment, on further increasing visitation to WA in the lead-up to the India versus South Africa World Cup match at Perth Stadium.”

Comments attributed to Adam Gilchrist:
“Western Australia is one of the most beautiful places on earth and I’m lucky to have called it home for more than 20 years.

“I am happy to be working with Tourism WA to get the word out in India and encourage people to come and see our magnificent State.”
