Malabar Gold Mulls Pan India Launch of ‘Brides of India Golden Heart’ initiative


Malabar Gold & Diamonds, one of the fifth largest gold retailer in the world, is planning to launch its ambitious Brides of India Golden Heart initiative, a reach out programme specially designed for the would-be-brides from the economically weaker sections of the society (EWS), to the pan India level. The episode, which is already going live in Kerala and billed as a runaway success, will be rolled in other parts of the country in a staggered fashion, a senior company official said. Under the initiative, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has already distributed more than 600 grams gold to more than 30 brides in Kerala.

Under the aegis of `Brides of India Golden Heart’ initiative, the gold retailer will be giving away as much as 24 grams of gold to as many would-be brides as possible. The company said the idea is to give a helping hand to would be brides of India whose dreams to tie the knots are getting delayed or deferred thanks to their backward economic background.
Brides of India Golden Heart aims to make the dream of marriage for all eligible brides of 20 years of age and above living below the poverty line comes true subject to certain conditions. For instance, the applicant should be of 20 years of age and above. The would-be bride should hail from a BPL family without a brother of above 18 years of age and parents deceased. Applications should be submitted before 45 days of the day of marriage. The applicants who possess landed property of five cents or below or who have house built on 900 sq. ft. of area or below are eligible. Gold ornaments of minimum 8 grams to maximum 24 grams will be given on the wedding day to the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries will be selected on the basis of these mentioned criteria and an inquiry report of a committee.
“The idea behind the initiative is to help as much would-be-brides from the economically backward sections of the society irrespective of their class, cast or religion to enter into a life of holy matrimony. We understand that financial constraints often force families to put off marriages of young women and it is fast spreading as a social issue. Through this initiative, we want to see the dream of the marriage coming true for all eligible women of marriage age irrespective of their caste, creed or religion”, said M.P Ahammed, Chairman, Malabar Gold & Diamonds.
“We have already started the programme in Kerala. Having seen its runaway success, we decided to expand it to the all India level”, he added.
“We expect that this programme will catch up with the imagination of the wider public and hence we see socially minded people chipping in with whatsoever possible to encourage this initiative. Malabar Gold is committed to the social welfare of economicaly deprived sections and giving back a part of our profit to the society”, he said.

Children from Metros welcome Nanhi Kalis from rural towns back-to-school with 3M’s unique program

~3M partners with Reliance Smart to promote girl child education ~


It’s a common question asked to every child in a Metro city – “What do you want to become when you grow up?”. Through good education system and good mentorship from their parents, these children get great exposure to all the right facilities to help them pursue their dreams.

However, did you know that 70% of the girls who are studying in remote towns also want to pursue higher studies, and 74.3% of those girls want to work after studies and have a specific career in mind*?[1] Every child is curious and deserves an education. Project Nanhi Kali managed by K C Mahindra Education Trust is one of the largest community programs imparting education to underprivileged girl children in India. The project provides academic, material and social support that allows a girl child to access quality education, attend school with dignity and reduces the chances of her dropping out.

To strengthen their commitment to support early stage education to the girl child, 3M India has come up with a unique program in partnership with the K C Mahindra Education Trust and Reliance Smart stores. The programme, called “From You to Her”, is all about a child in a Metro city wishing a Nanhi Kali good luck for the new academic year, with a gift of a hand-made craft, and a personalized message.
To execute this, 3M India is organizing craft camps across select Reliance Smart stores during the Back to School season this year. Crafts made by metro city children at these camps, with their personalized messages will be sent to girls in Nanhi Kali schools in Maharashtra as a welcome-back-to-school gift at the start of the academic year.

As a continuation to the gesture, the Nanhi Kalis will send back their hand-written ‘thank you’ notes, which will be given to the children who participated in the craft camps.

It is the endeavor of all three organizations to promote a feeling of empathy and one-ness with girl children pursuing education in rural areas of India, by providing this unique platform for children living in Metro cities.

Apart from the greetings during the ‘Back-to-School’ season, 3M India has also committed to contribute Re.1/- from the sale of every 3M stationery product that is sold from Reliance Smart stores across Faridabad, Mumbai and Bangalore towards education of the girl child.

The Chief Guest for this magnificent event was Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Other renowned dignitaries included Shri. Raosaheb Danve Patil, Shri. Chandrakant Dada Patil, Shri Sudhir Mungantiwar, Shri Vinod Tawde, Smt. Asia-Europe Cooperation, Digital Connectivity Highlighted at 2019 AIIB Annual Meeting

High-level seminars on the benefits of stronger Asia-Europe cooperation and connectivity will anchor the 2019 Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Annual Meeting in Luxembourg on July 12-13.

“We wanted to host an Annual Meeting in Europe during our first few years of operations to acknowledge the support of our European members and demonstrate how multilateral institutions are well-positioned to enhance connectivity between Europe and Asia,” said AIIB Vice President and Corporate Secretary Danny Alexander. “We look forward to learning from and partnering with Europe’s leading organizations to fight climate change and develop sustainable infrastructure in Asia and beyond.”
The Asian Infrastructure Forum (AIF) will also take place during the 2019 AIIB Annual Meeting. The AIF is a business development forum on creating connections and developing project pipelines. This year’s forum will involve interactive workshops on private equity investments, financing for energy projects and AIIB procurement policies and practices. Investment opportunities in Bangladesh, the Philippines and Uzbekistan will also be presented by official delegations. AIF participants will be able to attend theInfrastructure Fund Showcase where preselected infrastructure fund projects will be evaluated by AIIB experts in front of a live audience.
“By hosting AIIB’s first Annual Meeting to be held outside Asia, Luxembourg will further demonstrate its role as a bridge in the heart of Europe bringing European and Asian stakeholders together, thus helping to develop innovative and sustainable solutions in infrastructure financing,” said Luxembourg Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna.
Luxembourg, a founding member of the European Union and a major international financial center, was the first European country to sign as an AIIB founding member in 2015.  The theme of the 2019 AIIB Annual Meeting is “Cooperation and Connectivity” in recognition of the economic and social benefits that can be realized through better connectivity among countries and regions, including Europe and Asia.
As part of AIIB’s Act Green Together initiative, greenhouse gas emissions associated with the Annual Meeting will be measured, with impact being offset by purchasing Certified Emissions Reductions to achieve carbon neutrality.
