Rock n Rap artists entertain shoppers at Viviana Mall


Well-known Rock n Rap artists performed live at Viviana Mall on 22-23 February. The event was part of mall’s V4Music initiative with an aim to entertain shoppers.

Bombay Raja, Danish, MCAltaf (of Gully Boy fame) gave a power packed performance on rock, beat boxing and rap on Saturday (22nd February). On 23rd February, popular artists like KaamBhaari (of Gully Boy fame), MH 43 and Danish enthralled the audience.
 Youngsters hooked on to their talent, were in for a surprise to have seen their favourite artists perform live. The shoppers also got an opportunity to get themselves clicked with these singers. Viviana Mall arranged this live performance free of cost for their patrons.

Since 2015, shoppers were entertained by live performances only on Saturdays. This is the first time Viviana Mall organised live performance for two consecutive days – Saturday and Sunday. Viviana Mall is bringing in different genres of music to V4Music property and adding diverse flavour to cater to audiences of all age groups.

ICICI Lombard and realme payसा enter into strategic association for providing screen protection cover for realme phones



India’s latest entrant to financial services, realme payसा announced its strategic relationship with ICICI Lombard to enroll realme phone users, under the All Risk Insurance Policy underwritten by ICICI Lombard. realme payसा, was launched in December 2019 as a full stack financial services platform and through this relationship will provide screen protection for realme phones.

ICICI Lombard launches petition for first-ever Motorbike Helmet emoji


~ Campaign stresses road safety among two-wheeler riders and their loved ones ~

When a 20-year-old biker went on a road trip to Ladakh with his friends, his parents were both happy and tense. While they wanted their son to have a great time, they were also worried about his safety. His mother, in particular, did not want to ruin his adventure by constantly calling or texting him to stay safe. She searched for an emoji to remind him to wear helmet, but she could not find one. She
wished there was a helmet emoji to remind her son to wear one every time he hit the road. After all, there were emojis for scooters and motorcycles. Why not for riders?

ICICI Lombard’s decision to launch the world’s first-ever motorbike helmet emoji is born out of every parent’s concern, — a friend’s need to wish their dear one’s to wear a helmet— and the fact that two-wheelers accounted for the highest number of road accidents in India. In 2018, over 20,000 two-wheeler deaths were attributed to non-wearing of helmets.

The grim statistics prompted ICICI Lombard, one of the country’s largest private general insurance companies, to unveil a first-of-its kind campaign for a helmet emoji in the interest of road safety.
The campaign aims at getting the maximum number of people to sign a nationwide petition for launching the emoji. It will use crowdsourcing to encourage people to come forward and sign the petition. The tagline — Sign karo petition, aur banao mujhe bhi Emoji — will help create awareness about the movement, generate conversation about riding safety among people as well as on social media, and stress the importance of road safety among bikers.

ICICI Lombard’s unique petition is aimed at impressing upon the Unicode Consortium, a US-based non-profit organisation responsible for maintaining and publishing the Unicode Standard, highlighting the urgent need for a Motorbike Helmet emoji to add to the larger cause of road safety, especially among two-wheeler riders and their loved ones.

UTTARAKHAND SET TO POSITION ITSELF AS THE WORLD’S FIRST SPIRITUAL ECONOMIC ZONE


 The Government of Uttarakhand today, officially kick-started a series of roadshows to promote its upcoming Wellness Summit in association with CII as the National Partner. The Wellness Summit 2020 roadshow series was inaugurated by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri. Trivendra Singh Rawat in a glittering function held in Mumbai.

The Uttarakhand Wellness Summit 2020 planned to be held at Dehradun in April, in fact, draws its inspiration from none other than Hon`ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi himself.  Shri. Modi during the inauguration of the Global Investors Summit, interestingly, had suggested that Uttarakhand could efficiently build on its inherent strengths and elevate itself into the status of a Global Spiritual Economic Zone.

In his inaugural address, Shri. Rawat said the rise of Uttarakhand as the world’s ultimate Spiritual Economic Zone was imminent and irreversible.

Even as the roadshow for the wellness summit 2020 was underway the Government of Uttarakhand is inundated with positive feedback and promises of sustainable investment. This became evident when major players like Zivaya Wellness Private Limited, JSW Sports Private Limited, Herbal Life Nutrition and Resinno Biotech expressed their willingness to be the part of state government initiative.

Co-convenor CII Maharashtra Panel on Energy and Sustainability and CEO Kamath Group of Hotels Mr. Vishal Kamath in his welcome address said Uttarakhand has what it takes to emerge as the world’s ultimate Spiritual Economic Zone. “Mother Nature is at her best in Uttarakhand. The State has very strong upticks, be it Yoga, Ayurveda or Meditation, said Shri. Rawat.

“The state has undertaken various business reforms as prescribed by the World Bank and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade under ease of doing business initiative. The state has improved its ranking regularly over the years and it currently stands at 11th position (the evaluation Year 2017) out of 35 states and union territories of India,” Mr. Rawat further added.

The Global Wellness Economy which stood at a whopping $4.2 trillion in 2017 is growing at an impressive 6.4% annually.  So, they are not surprised, Uttarakhand wants to capitalize on this as the State has the potential to position itself as the epicentre of Global Wellness.  Further, the State Government is optimistic about attracting added investments into the Wellness Sector including physical infrastructure.

The ‘invitation-only’ summit that provides a holistic platform for interaction and deliberation for players and thought leaders, as a precursor to the main event will also organise an Ambassadors’ Round Table Meet at Rishikesh and a curtain-raiser at Almora in addition to the national and international roadshow series.

The State Government which is determined to make the Summit a resounding success has also accorded industry status to the Wellness and Ayush sector.  This move will enable potential investors and other stakeholders across sectors to avail various government incentives, say experts.

The State has also established a single window clearance system to enable Ease of Doing Business through its Investor Promotion and Facilitation Centre (IPFC).  This is in addition to a centralized one-stop-shop that will facilitate interaction between government agencies and various stakeholders.
At Tuesday’s event, two presentations were made before the industry leaders and entrepreneurs.
Principal Secretary, Industries Ms. Manisha Panwar in a detailed session covered the scope and scale of Wellness Sector in Uttarakhand and apprised about the abundant investment opportunities in subsectors including nutraceuticals, organic food, natural fibre, beauty products and wellness real estate.

Secretary Tourism and CEO, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, Mr.Dilip Jawalkar said, “innovative initiatives like Ayush Health Centres/Retreats, eco-tourism, aroma therapy/aroma tourism and yoga wellness tourism would redefine the culture and character of global tourism in the days to come,”

As part of the promotion exercise, the state government delegation will soon travel to New Delhi and Kochi to stimulate the interest of investors.

Carter Road turns into a live sunset art gallery with ‘Art by The Sea’

The fourth edition celebrates ‘A Platform for Women Artists’ as its central theme with live paintings by 12 powerful women artist from India.

Supported by the Bandra West Resident Association, and Camlin Kokuyo The fourth edition of ‘Art by the Sea’ is a platform for women artists to come out of their studios, on the streets, brushes in their hands, facilitating conversations with communities, transforming them into art, and claiming public space. The city itself will become a gallery.

“A one of its kind live painting / sculpting event that brings together in this year the most renowned women artists from the country to paint / sculpt whilst the sun sets over three days at the very lively Carter Road Promenade, Bandra West. Artists get a chance to not only work by the breathtaking Arabian Sea, watching the sun set, connecting with right set of art lovers, interact with audience, showcase their artworks and expand their circle”, states Ms. Mitali Bajaj – Director Le Sutra – The Indian Art Hotel.

“Women have long played a crucial role in India's arts scene. As reflectors, translators, and mediators Indian women artists, have emphasized societal issues, including cultural and social identity, in the form of paintings, sculptures, and installations since pre-independence times. However, they continue to face challenges resulting from gender bias, whether it is difficulty finding opportunities to train or showcase their art, or a lack of critical recognition”, states Shraddha Purnaye, curator of the art event.
The pantheon of artists participating in this event are Ami Patel, Anuja Paturkar, Arpita Bhavsar, Gayatri Mehta, Manjri Verde, Maushmi Ganguly, Nikita Thakur, Ribaka Nikam, Shilpa Nikam, Sujata Achrekar, Sweeta Rai, Tejswini Sonawane and Vipta Kapadia. Artworks will be created in different subjects and mediums like, acrylic on canvas, acrylic on linen, woodcut printmaking, metal work and terracotta.

This event also provides an excellent opportunity for the art lovers to witness the artistic process of creating an artwork and interact with the artist and watch as they transform the canvas or sculptures with a variety of colors and forms. Office Market Outlook ‘Optimistic’ backed by robust leasing volumes: 23rd Knight Frank–FICCI–NAREDCO Real Estate Sentiment Index Q4 2019

 88% of real estate stakeholders opine that leasing activity will remain in growth mode
 91% of stakeholders expect rentals to remain strong

In the recent survey by Knight Frank-FICCI-NAREDCO titled ‘Real Estate Sentiment Index Q4 2019 (October – December) ’, real estate stakeholders have continued to express an optimistic outlook for the office sector for the first half of 2020. This is backed by the tremendous growth that the India’s office sector has been witnessing in the last few years.

Office market outlook corroborates with the current market trends, where the leasing volume touched
an all-time high of 5.6 million square metre (60.6 million square feet) in 2019, backed by a surge in
leasing activity by the Information Technology segment. New completions also increased by 56% year-on-year in 2019, to 61.3 million square feet, marginally surpassing demand.

OFFICE MARKET OUTLOOK Q4 2019: POSITIVE MOMENTUM TO CONTINUE
 Stakeholder sentiment regarding the outlook for office leasing remained strong, with 88% of
respondents opining that leasing activity will either improve or remain the same.
 The outlook for new office supply remained positive, with 95% of the stakeholders expecting
supply to remain same or increase across geographies.
 Stakeholders' outlook with regards to future office rental appreciation also remains positive,
with 91% of the stakeholders expecting rentals to either remain or even appreciate in micro
markets with high demand.

The Bombay Art Society is presenting its 128th All India annual Art Exhibition from 25 February to 02 March 2020 at Jehangir Art Gallery. The BAS annual art exhibition started in 1888, the only art exhibition in India held continuously for 132 years except for few years during the first and second world war, is considered as the talent hunt in the country. The select 250 artworks hand-picked from total 2000 entries received from all over India through highly refined selection process involving art experts at every stage of selection are presented in this exhibition.
The inauguration of the annual art exhibition is scheduled at 5.00pm on 25 Feb 2020 at Jahangir Art Gallery at the hand of Shri. Sharad Pawar, MP & President, Nationalist Congress Party, Mrs. Urmila Kanoria, Chairperson, Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad and Shri.Uttam Pacharne, Eminent sculptor and Chairman, Lalit Kala Akadami. The Bombay Art Society (BAS), founded in 1888, one of the oldest non-profit art institutions in the Asian subcontinent promoting visual arts for 132 years, is presenting its 128th annual art exhibition.
Prof. Anil Naik, Chairman, The Bombay Art Society (BAS) shared, “This year, 41 awards to the artists in the categories like paintings, sculptures, graphics, photography along with Bendre-Husain scholarship and Lalibai Dharamdas Bhambhani scholarship are presented to the young artists. The Bombay Art Society (BAS) has started Roopdhar Life time Samman in the field of visual art since last 15 years. This year we are felicitating one of the great artists and revered art teacher Prof. Kashinath Salve with Roopdhar Life time achievement Samman which carries citation and one Lakh rupees cash as a token of love. The Roopadhar life time achievement Samman will be conferred on Prof.  Kashinath Salve on 25 Feb 2020 at the time of inauguration of the annual art exhibition.
Tejaswini Sonavane’s artworks highlighting the plight of animals vis-à-vis water scarcity in rural India fetched her Bendre-Husain scholarship whereas Siddharth Shingade’s mixed media and acrylic works on canvas depicting village folks in muted colours with textures and details got him Lalibhai Bharamadas Bhambhani scholarship. The perfect synchronization of geometric forms with contemporary elements creating perfect fusion of visual arts elements in Dhruti Mahajan’s work attracted the judges attention, making her winner of this year’s Governer’s Award and gold medal. The artworks  of  Akshay Lushte, Kiran Shigvan, Swapnil Tari, Mamata Shingade, Rushikesh Masurkar and Swapnil Kumbhar submitted for the exhibition outshine and own them various awards which will be presented on 25 Feb 2020 at Jehangir Art Gallery.
The all India annual art exhibition has been the important art event on the calendar of visual arts events in country since its beginning in 1888; today it has assumed the form of mega art event for the artists community in the western parts of India…..not only western parts of India but it is an important event for artists in eastern and southern parts of India as The Bombay Art Society receives exhibition entries as far away as Delhi, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala from many years.
Bombay Art Society’s scholarships & awards have been great inspiration in the formative years of today’s many master painters like J. P. Ganguly, Ravi Shankar Rawal, H. Majumdar, Amrita Sher-Gil, S. L. Haldankar, K. K Hebbar, N. S.Bendre, Badri Narayan, A. A. Almelkar, S. H. Raza, K. H. Ara, Mohan Samant, Jatin Das, Prabhakar Kolte and many other younger established names.  The art journey of many Indian artists of renown has at some time or the other benefited from the munificence and magnificence of the Bombay Art Society's past.
The Bombay Art Society (BAS) was granted a piece land by the Maharashtra State Government and a huge symbol of architectural grandiose stands today on this 10,000 Sq. feet area at Bandra Reclamation, opp Hotel Rangsharada. The Art complex housing three art galleries, an amphitheater, the art-books Library is a significant addition to the Mumbai's art and cultural infrastructure, providing artists and art enthusiasts with much needed space for art exhibitions, art residencies, film screenings, live demonstrations, presentations, lectures, workshops, educational activities etc in Mumbai.

SHEIN INDIA CELEBRATES ONE MILLION SPARKLING MILESTONE ON INSTAGRAM

Celebrating 1 million followers milestone on Instagram on 14th February 2020, SHEIN India was overwhelmed by the turnout at each spot, the scene witnessed an enthusiastic crowd taking pictures of the SHEIN bus and joyfully shaking a leg with the dance troupe. The crowd loved the goodies distributed and joined the celebration with their friends and family. SHEIN has also announced a social media hashtag contest titled #MeetSHEIN moment to encourage its consumers and audience to participate and share a picture of the SHEIN bus and post it on Instagram with #HelloSHEIN.  Lucky winners will get a chance to win shopping vouchers from the brand.

Seven student start-ups win over investors at 5th NES Start-up fest


• Over 700 students took part in this fest.

The 5th edition of the NES Start-up Fest organised by the E-Cell of NES Ratnam College unfolded at the NES International School campus. The theme “Inclusivity” was the buzzword at NES Start-p Fest where 2000 students, 60 student start-up ideas, 15 startup ideas by budding entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, differently-abled entrepreneurs & more were on display. 

 The start-up fest was flagged off by Mr.Bomi Gandhi, Associate VP, Godrej & Boyce(Interio Division) and Dr. R. Varadarajan, Founder President, NES-SVB Group in the presence of industry stalwarts like Mr. Satish Kadu, Founder & CEO, YOptima, Mr Milind Kher, CEO Hopitality Quorum, Dr. Aparna Rao, Founder & Co-ordinator at Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship, IIT Bombay, Lion Amir Virani, Founder & CEO Cynergi, CA Sudarshan Pukale, International Author, Entrepreneur & Business Consultant, Mr Girish Karnad, Director, Shamrao Vitthal Cooperative Bank and Mr. Amit Singhania among others. 

The top seven start-ups shortlisted for incubation are Pi Code Club for their Block Coding STEM for Kids, Intelligent Safety Project Transportation by Veer Bavashi, Complete Solar by Future Residential Complex, Mural Painting by Yogesh Arts, 100% Biodegradable sanitary napkins by Wanna Feel refreshed, Smart Bikes by Auto Tech, Cost reduction robotics by Smart Systems. These seven short listed start-ups will be guided and mentored by industry experts. 

Dr. R Varadarajan, Founder President NES SVB Group shared "India will soon be a vibrant nation in the world with 64 percent of its population in the working age group by 2020. All that we need is to guide the start-ups to scale up, inspire more students to aspire and become job creators, instead of becoming job-seekers. NES SVB Group and NES Ratnam College have been diligently working towards creating young entrepreneurs. This year we have selected 7 start-ups who will undergo a proper budgeting and feasibility study and based on the findings the start-ups will be incubated and mentored.” 

Mr.Bomi Gandhi, Associate VP, Godrej & Boyce (Interio Division) said, “There is nothing exhilarating than working for yourself. Tatas, Godrej and Birlas were start-ups many years back, now you the students are being given immense opportunity to turn your business thought into reality and its upto you to take the best out of it."

Students came up with innovative ideas and projects that drew appreciation and attention. Highlights were BMX cycle mounted with 100cc engine, mini electric go cart (mini e-car), hand-made customised jewellery, Bio-degradable Sanitary Napkins, Thermal electric Pain Reliever and more. Aneesh Karma a differently abled Innovator shared, “It was a pleasure to be part of the Start-up Fest. This is a perfect platform for all budding entrepreneurs be it students or differently abled or women to showcase their ideas and concepts". 

NES Start-up fest also conducted interesting sessions on The Startup Expo, E-Workshop, Idea Lab, Enablement Space, patenting, Start-up Quest and Success Stories. The fest also included workshops with a wide spectrum of themes like promoting Zero Waste Campaign by Social Entrepreneur Ms Mehndi Shidasani, Artifacts Using Wire by Grey entrepreneur Mr. Jamaal Shaikh, Low Cost Foot Orthosis by Mr. Aneesh Karma, and innovative use of Jute Clothline by an NGO of Women Entrepreneurs.

Students had put up 70 stalls which included 50 Start-up Expo stalls, 10 food stalls, 8 non food stalls and also 2 stalls were put up by an NGO which displayed their products in the fest. More than 2000 visitors came down to support the Start-up Fest. 

The start-up fest concluded with the Valedictory Session where the Chief Guest, Dr. R. Balasubramanian, Director, NES-SVB Group, drew upon personal anecdotes to motivate the young, aspiring entrepreneurs to persevere in their drive for change and innovation.
