ePaisa & SSATTU (Seva Sarathi Autorickshaw Taxi and Transport Union) join hands to provide QR based payment for Autorickshaw’s & Taxis in Mumbai and Maharashtra

Leading Point of Sale, ePaisa has joined hands with Seva Sarathi Autorickshaw Taxi & Transport Union to provide QR Payment option to Auto rickshaws and Taxis in Maharashtra especially Mumbai.

As per data, there has been a reduction in commuters using local Auto rickshaws and Taxi due to the exact change required to pay the fare. Commuters feel at ease & hassle-free using other modes of transport due to the advantage of digital payment mode enabled on their phones for acceptance.  So, the aim of the tie-up is to digitalize the auto and taxi transport segments and help them in their day to day business.

ePaisa’s Chief Operating Officer Mr. Shahin Kunnath explained that “not only the drivers but also the passengers who prefer public mode of transport can leverage the benefit of easy payment through this seamless, smart payment solution. They can pay their ride fare from any UPI enabled app by just scanning ePaisa QR which instantly credits fare amount to the driver's bank account”.

QR code payment acceptance is a simple two-step process that is extremely easy and hassle-free. Commuters can open any digital wallet or banking app-enabled with UPI and tap on Scan QR Code or Scan & Pay while scanning the ePaisa QR Code to make any payments to the auto and taxi drivers.

Mr. Pravinkumar Bhandari, Chief Business Officer, ePaisa added that “Our priority has always been to convert the offline business to online and since most of the sectors are benefitting from the QR code payment, therefore, we wanted to help the auto-rickshaws and taxi drivers as well”.

The auto-rickshaws and taxis registered with the Union are provided with the ePaisa QR code stickers which are displayed inside the vehicle keeping in mind the convenience of passengers.

Commenting on this, Seva Sarathi Autorickshaw Taxi & Transport Union General Secretary Mr. DM Gosavi said that “due to the exact change required to pay the fare there is always a conflict between the passengers and the auto- taxi drivers. Thus QR code payment is the solution to it. Also as part of the Digital India initiative by the Government, auto-rickshaw-taxis will benefit if the fare is credited directly to their account through the ePaisa QR code system. This partnership with ePaisa brings such a great facility for all the auto and taxi drivers which they must avail it”.
