Steelcase India online store extends range of ergonomic task chairs to help create healthier and more productive WFH experience

India, August 2021 – Steelcase, a leading global office furniture company, is reinventing home office by making its products more accessible through its online store. The retail platform offers customers in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune a range of ergonomic chairs, so that they can stay focused and productive while working from home.

Through its insights-led approach, Steelcase is renowned for an innovative and diverse furniture portfolio that is used by leading organizations. But with the wide-reaching disruptions of COVID-19, many office workers have been confined to their homes, often without the right setup.

“Our customers in India are naturally concerned about the well-being of their people and many of them have expressed an interest in working with us to set up better workspaces at employees’ homes,” said Samantha Giam, Director, Product Marketing, Steelcase Asia Pacific. “As we worked to equip their remote teams, we saw an opportunity to make some of our products available to individuals to improve their work-from-home experience.”

The transition back to the workplace will take some time. Social distancing will demand lower office occupancy levels and the priority will be to support those that cannot work remotely to return first while others continue to work from home. “While many in India lack the space for a complete home office, my tip would be to invest in an ergonomic chair. It will encourage movement and offer continual support for your spine and arms, so you can avoid the aches and pains of bad posture,” Giam said.

Praveen Rawal, Steelcase MD, India & SAARC, Design Applications APAC said: “Being productive in a home environment is challenging, especially if you don’t have the right work setup. With fluctuating intensities of the pandemic, workers might have to spend more time working-form-home than anticipated – it has become a norm more than a choice. With our online store, we aim to provide convenience and access to our ergonomic furniture solutions to retail consumers in India.”

“We want to provide a simple way for customers to access the most ergonomic products and will explore opportunities for further online stores in other cities across the country,” added Rawal. “We want to see our cities thriving again and return to economic growth. Getting back to work is the key, but it must be done without compromising safety. That is our top priority. People will need to be prepared for flexibility to work anytime, anywhere, healthily.”
