This year, ‘Town Hall’ panels will be held at the end of each day on respectively, “Mobility of Students at European level: from Erasmus scholar to Marie Sklodowska Curie fellow,” “Tools for Student Mobility” and “Mobility of Students strengthening Europe-India Partnership.”

Since 2015, the European Union has been organizing the education fair promoting Europe as a destination for higher education and research for Indian students and academic community. The fair provides aspirants with the latest information and advice directly from EU-based HEIs, EU Member States representatives, and  experts through different tools of the Virtual Fair that include a series of webinars and a dedicated web-portal https://www.study-europe.net. Students can also get information on the impact of COVID-19 from the university representatives for academic sessions in 2021.

The education fair is catering to students in various phases of their education journey.  It seeks to connect college students who have recently graduated or graduating next year and are looking to go abroad for higher education, as well as post-graduates looking for higher education and research opportunities in the EU. Participation is free of charge but registration is required: https://www.study-europe.net/content/webinar-schedule-0

Background Information

EU-India focus on People to People Cooperation

At the recently held EU-India Summit (15 July 2020), the European Union and the Government of India welcomed the exchange of students, researchers and professionals and agreed to improve awareness of study and scholarship opportunities in the EU and in India in the coming years to strengthen the cultural ties between the two regions.

This Education Fair endeavours to build bridges for longer term institutional linkages between the European Union and Indian institutions. As part of the educational ties between EU-India, the EU Erasmus+ programme granted 134 Erasmus Mundus Scholarships to Indian students for a Master’s Degree in Europe, making India the top global recipient this year. This is a 40% increase in the Indian students receiving the Erasmus Mundus scholarship as compared to last year. Overall, about 6,000 Indian scholars have benefitted from the Erasmus+ programme since it opened to India in 2004. About 350 Indian Higher Education Institutes have joined the Erasmus+ programme.
