National Postal Week 2026 being Celebrated in Maharashtra Circle

09th October 2026 Mumbai, : On the Occasion of World Post Day followed by the National Postal Week 2026, a special cancellation marking World Post Day was released by Shri Ramchandra K. Jayabhaye, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, during the press conference held.

Addressing the media, Shri Jayabhaye highlighted the Maharashtra Circle’s growth of approximately 28% to 39% across four key business verticals, namely Parcels, Mails, International Relations and Global Business,  Postal Life Insurance (PLI) / Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI).

A PowerPoint presentation showcasing the progress of Maharashtra Circle, the various products and services offered by India Post, and new initiatives undertaken by the Department was also presented. 

During the press conference, Ms. Simran Kaur, Director Postal Services (Headquarters), Maharashtra Circle, welcomed the members of the press and media and responded to queries raised by media representatives.

Shri Jayabhaye, Chief Postmaster General Maharashtra Circle conveyed his best wishes to staff and customers through social media posts and requested all the employees to take Postal Services to every eligible customer. On this occasion, he highlighted following contributions of DOP in Maharashtra and Goa States;

Live accounts as on Sept-26 = 3.59 crore

IPPB accounts = 1.92 crore and IPPB DBT Beneficiaries = 1.14 crore

8.37 lakh Aadhaar enrolled and updated during the year 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026).

2.82 lakh POPSK appointments handled during the year 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026).

10.21 Cr. Speed Post articles booked & delivered during the FY 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026)

26.90 lakh Speed Post Parcels booked & delivered during the FY 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026)

10.39 lakh India Post Parcel Contractual booked & delivered during the FY 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026)

15.95 lakh India Post Parcel Retail booked & delivered during the FY 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026)

13.90 lakh ITPS articles booked & delivered during the FY 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026)

1.14 lakh EMS articles booked & delivered during the FY 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026)

0.23 lakh Foreign air parcel booked & delivered during the FY 2026-27 (upto 30.09.2026)

New initiative of Ganapati and Navratri Special night Camps were highlighted. In Ganeshotsav Night Camps, 11,313 POSB Accounts were opened, 518 PLI/RPLI Policies with a 1.22 crore of premium, 570 CELC, 591 General Insurance and 21 My Stamp. This year, National Postal Week has been planned in line with the evolving role of Department and the wide range of services it offers to the citizens. The celebrations will focus on the growing integration of technology and innovation in postal operations and Department's continued efforts in making postal services more accessible and convenient.

World Post Day (9th October)- is celebrated on the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 to create awareness about the role of the Postal Department in the everyday life of people and businesses, as well as their contribution to global, social and economic development. This year, the theme of World Post Day is 'World Post Day: One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities'. (9TH October, 2026 (Friday) – World Post Day).

Philately Deposit Accounts: Currently 11,720 accounts are standing in the circle

Philatelic Exhibitions: Showcasing rare stamps and postal materials.

Special Covers, Customised My Stamps: 25 Special Covers and 07 Customized My Stamp are released in the current year.

Philatelic Seminars and Workshops for promoting philately conducted.

13th October, 2026 (Tuesday) – Financial Inclusion & CCS Day

On Financial Inclusion & CCS Day, Maharashtra Circle reaffirms its commitment to taking accessible and modern financial services to every citizen. With more than 3.53 crore live POSB accounts, our Post Offices continue to serve as trusted centres for savings, insurance, Aadhaar and social security services.

Technology is transforming the way we serve our customers through Core Banking, Internet and Mobile Banking, ePassbook, Aadhaar-based e-KYC and interoperable Branch Post Office services. India Post Payments Bank further strengthens this network through digital and doorstep banking, UPI, AePS and Direct Benefit Transfer services, including support for Maharashtra’s Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana.

As part of the celebrations, Dak Chaupals will be organised at every Sub-Division and Head Post Office, bringing POSB, PLI/RPLI and Aadhaar services closer to the people.

14th October 2026 (Wednesday) – Mails & Parcels Day

 (Mails Sn) As part of the activities to be organized on the occasion of “Mails & Parcels Day” on 14th October 2026, a Sorting Contest among all Sorting Assistants working in all RMS offices will be conducted.

(BD Section, CO Mumbai): The Department of Posts is celebrating National Postal Week 2026 during 9th to15th October 2026). During the National Postal Week, 14th October 2026 is celebrated as ‘Mails & Parcel Day’ On this day Circle has organized Business Meet with Top 25 Customers of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai Region. Top Customers will be felicitated during the Business Meet.
