Rashtriya Raksha University to Launch Second Batch of Masters in Financial and Economic Security

Mumbai, Maharshtra | 28 September 2026, Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, is set to launch the second batch of its Masters in Financial and Economic Security (MFES) program in November 2026. The program follows the successful completion of its first cohort, which comprised more than 40 professionals from diverse fields, including banking, law enforcement, investigation, academia, entrepreneurship and legal services.

Designed especially for working professionals, the one-year program is offered in a hybrid mode, enabling participants to continue their professional responsibilities while gaining specialised knowledge and practical skills. The program places strong emphasis on practical learning, hands-on training and exposure to contemporary challenges in financial and economic security.

Building Capacity for Emerging Financial and Economic Threats

Financial security and economic integrity are increasingly important in an interconnected global economy. The rapid evolution of financial technologies, digital assets and cross-border financial activities has also created new avenues for financial crime and economic disruption. There is therefore a growing need to build a specialised cadre of professionals capable of understanding, preventing and responding to emerging financial and economic crimes, thereby strengthening India’s economic resilience and contributing to international peace, stability and security.

Speaking at the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Mumbai, Mr. Sunil Kavishwar, Director, School of Criminal Law and Military Law, RRU highlighted the growing importance of safeguarding the integrity and resilience of financial systems. He noted that financial crimes are continuously evolving, moving beyond traditional forms into emerging areas such as virtual digital assets, terror financing, proliferation financing, and technology-enabled financial crimes. The increasing use of sophisticated technologies by criminal networks has further created new challenges for enforcement, regulatory and financial institutions.

Mr. Kavishwar highlighted that RRU has taken the lead in developing a global platform for capacity building, specialised training and knowledge exchange in the emerging field of financial and economic security. The University is working towards bringing together professionals, experts and institutions from across relevant domains to strengthen specialised understanding and practical capabilities in this area. He further highlighted that the MFES program brings together not only academicians but also experienced practitioners and working professionals who bring direct expertise from the field and will contribute to the program as faculty and resource persons.

Mr. Harshit Singh, Teaching Cum Research Officer, RRU spoke about the importance of developing a specialised professional cadre equipped to address emerging financial and economic security challenges. He emphasised that such trained professionals can contribute to strengthening India’s economic resilience, supporting sustainable national growth and enhancing the country’s contribution to global financial security and stability.

The program also aligns with the broader vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat @2047, by contributing to the development of skilled professionals capable of protecting financial systems, strengthening institutional capacity and responding effectively to emerging economic and security threats. As India’s economy becomes increasingly integrated with global financial systems, such specialised expertise can play an important role in supporting secure, resilient and sustainable growth.

The second cohort is open to national and international participants, providing an opportunity for professionals from different jurisdictions and sectors to learn and engage with contemporary issues of financial and economic security. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is also a Knowledge Partner in the program.

Interested professionals can register through the official Rashtriya Raksha University admission portal. The program is intended to provide participants with a multidisciplinary understanding of financial and economic security through academic instruction, practical exposure and interaction with experts from the field.
