*Mumbai* : Mahalaxmi Saras 2026, currently underway at BKC, is receiving an overwhelming response from citizens across Mumbai. A large number of visitors had been consistently demanding an extension of the exhibition period.

Taking into account the enthusiastic response towards women self-help groups, the increasing daily footfall and public demand, Maharashtra Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore submitted a special proposal to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking an extension of the exhibition.

Considering the tremendous response to the exhibition, the growing sales of products made by women entrepreneurs and the increasing enthusiasm among citizens, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis approved the proposal and decided that Mahalaxmi Saras 2026 will now continue till 17 May 2026.

Initially, the exhibition was scheduled from 2 May to 14 May, but visitors will now get an additional three days to experience the exhibition.

The exhibition has been organised with the objective of providing a strong platform to rural women self-help groups, ensuring direct market access for their products and empowering women economically.

Thousands of women entrepreneurs are benefiting from this initiative. Handicrafts, traditional food products, household items and various innovative products created by women entrepreneurs are receiving tremendous appreciation and demand from Mumbaikars.

Since its commencement on 2 May 2026, the exhibition has recorded a remarkable business turnover of nearly ₹21 crore. Significantly, on 9 May 2026 alone, business worth nearly ₹6 crore was recorded in a single day, marking a major milestone in the history of Mahalaxmi Saras. The record-breaking response has created an atmosphere of excitement and confidence among women self-help groups and women entrepreneurs from rural regions.

Due to the ongoing holiday period, many citizens had not yet been able to visit the exhibition. As a result, there was a strong public demand to continue the exhibition for a few more days. Taking immediate cognisance of this demand and the extraordinary response received by the exhibition, Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore took prompt initiative and presented the proposal before Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, which received immediate approval.

Along with free entry, special free bus services have also been arranged for visitors attending the exhibition. As a result, large numbers of citizens are visiting Mahalaxmi Saras 2026 every day and extending strong support to products made by women entrepreneurs through enthusiastic purchases.
