As a part of the Government Initiative World Biofuel Day is observed every year on August 10th to create awareness about the importance of non-fossil fuels as an alternative to conventional fossil Fuels.
As directed by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, SLC Maharashtra co-ordinated with OMCS for attending the Celebration of "World Biofuel Day" on 10th August, 2023 through Webinar. The proposed theme for this year is "Biofuels: Fuels for a sustainable future".
Accordingly, SLC Maharashtra has organised live streaming of program at Y.B. Chavan Centre, Near Mantralya, Mumbai. Joint Secretary, Shri Kolekar, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection Dept, Govt. of Maharashtra & Deputy Secretary Smt. Sushila Pawar, Urban Development Dept, Govt. of Maharashtra along with Senior Officials from OMCs graced the occasion.
The Biofuels programme is also in synergy with the Government of India initiatives for Make in India, Swachh Bharat and enhancing farmers' income. The motto of the program is to have the benefits of reducing impart dependency on crude oil, cleaner environment, and additional income to farmers and employment generation in rural areas.
Webinar started with welcome & message by Shri Pankaj Jain, Secretary, MoPNG. A short film showing the achievements of Ministry and OMCS on bio fuels were played during the webinar followed by technical sessions / discussions on biofuels.
The following main points were highlighted by MOPNG for the benefit and awareness of all the participants of OMCS.
• Ethanol: Way Forward for higher blends beyond E20.
• SATAT: Enhancing Capacities
• Sustainable Aviation Fuel: Challenges anticipated and how to overcome them.
• Biodiesel: Addressing challenges related to feedstock procurement and its prices.
On this occasion Students from Colaba Municipal School, Vidyanidhi K.R. Commerce College, Juhu & K.R. Kotkar Junior College, Dombivali were present. Quiz Competitions conducted for the students & instant prizes were given.
Also, winners of essay & drawing competitions were given prizes through the auspicious hands of Govt. Officials, OMCS Officials etc. In all around 280 participants attended Webinar which Includes officials from Oil companies, Regional Managers, Sales Officers, Dealers, Distributors, Students, Teachers etc.
