SWALLOW (2019)
MUBI WORLD
This October MUBI WORLD will present a number of hand-picked and award winning international titles, including Kirsten Dunst starrer Marie Antoinette (2006), the Cannes Jury Prize winner Capernaum (2018) and the acclaimed psychological thriller Swallow (2019), which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2019 and saw its lead Hayley Bennett win Best Actress.
Werner Schroeter’s Malina (1991) will also show exclusively on the platform next month. Starring Isabelle Huppert, the film is an adaptation of Ingeborg Bachmann’s novel, and charts a female writer’s passage to self-destruction as she is torn between two lovers, one of whom is her husband.
Our New Brazilian Cinema special will continue showing the best of contemporary Brazilian cinema. In the wake of the country’s recent unprecedented political turmoil, Brazil’s filmmakers continue to produce poignant, urgent cinema, and films that will feature this month include Your Turn (2019) by Eliza Capai, Babenco: Tell Me When I Die (2019) by Bárbara Paz, Sol alegria (2018) by Tavinho Teixeira and Home (2019) by Letícia Simões.
