Mumbai Letter Fest; a unique initiative aimed at reviving the timeless tradition of handwritten letters. The event took place today, at the Delivery Hall of Mumbai GPO.
This year's festival featured exciting activities such as the Letter Writing, a calligraphy workshop by Achyut Palav School of Calligraphy, and several significant releases, including a special cancellation on Patra Utsav 2024, a special slogan cancellation, the unveiling of Mascot “Shekaru” of MAHAPEX 2025 and a booklet on the mascot.
The event was graced by several esteemed dignitaries, including:Shri Madhu Mangesh Karnik, Padma Shri awardee and renowned Marathi literary activist, Ms. Manju Kumar, Member (Operations), India Post, Shri Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, acclaimed filmmaker, Shri Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle,Ms. Suchita Joshi, Postmaster General, Mumbai Region; Shri Abhijeet Bansode, Director of Postal Services (HQ), and Dr. Ajinkya Kale, Director of Postal Services, Mumbai Region.
Almost 200 students from different schools of Mumbai city and suburb participated and wrote letters on the topic, which was “The Joy of Writing ; Importance of Letters in Digital Age”. They also attended a brief workshop on calligraphy conducted by teachers from the Achut Palav School of Calligraphy, post the letter writing session.
The festival aimed to rekindle the emotional and personal connection fostered through handwritten letters. In an era dominated by digital communication, India Post constantly seeks to remind the youth of the sentimental value, nostalgia, and artistry of handwritten correspondence.
