Dr. Kumar Vishwas to Present a Three-Day Spiritual Discourse “Jalkatha: Apne Apne Shyam Ki” in Rajkot This December

Organised by Girganga Parivar Trust – An Institution Dedicated to Creating 1,11,111 Water Conservation Structures Across Gujarat and Saurashtra

As a result of the tireless water conservation efforts of Girganga Parivar Trust, Saurashtra and Gujarat are witnessing a remarkable transformation. To strengthen this divine initiative further, world-renowned Hindi poet, philosopher, and storyteller Dr. Kumar Vishwas will present a three-day spiritual discourse titled “Jalkatha: Apne Apne Shyam Ki” in Rajkot this December.

Highly popular among the educated and youth communities, Dr. Kumar Vishwas is not just a poet but also a profound thinker known for his eloquent views on social and cultural issues. Through his discourses and storytelling, he emphasizes the essence of Indian culture and values. His talks often draw from timeless epics such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and the life and teachings of Lord Krishna.

The three-day “Jalkatha” will take place at Rajkot’s Racecourse Ground on 15th, 16th, and 17th December, every evening from 8 PM to midnight. Dr. Vishwas will weave together Shyam Katha (the divine tales of Lord Krishna) with the message of water conservation, encouraging the younger generation to adopt a deeper understanding of their cultural and environmental responsibilities.

Recognizing that water scarcity remains the greatest challenge for Saurashtra and Gujarat, Girganga Parivar Trust has undertaken a monumental mission to complete 1,11,111 water conservation structures, including check dams, recharged borewells, farm ponds, and source pits.

Under the leadership of Shri Dilipbhai Sakhiya and with the collective dedication of trustees, the core team, and countless volunteers, over 8,200 structures have already been completed.

Due to acute water shortages, many villages in Saurashtra have been deserted as youth migrate to cities in search of work, leading to urban overpopulation and social challenges. The Trust’s large-scale water conservation campaign aims to reverse this trend, reviving rural life and prosperity.

Before the commencement of the Jalkatha, as part of the awareness campaign, sacred water (jal) from 111 holy rivers of India will be brought to Rajkot in ceremonial urns (kalash). On 14th December, these waters will be worshipped through Vedic rituals by host couples (yajman dampati) at a grand ceremony.

To spread the message of “Jalkatha” and water conservation, Girganga Parivar Trust is organizing a series of community meetings and gatherings with social leaders, religious figures, and organizations across the region, inviting them to join this noble initiative. The event is expected to attract over 1.5 lakh attendees at Rajkot Racecourse Ground.

Under the guidance of Union Minister for Jal Shakti Shri C.R. Patil, Girganga Parivar Trust representatives Shri Dilipbhai Sakhiya and Dr. Bharatbhai Boghra met Dr. Kumar Vishwas in Delhi, where he learned in detail about the Trust’s initiatives and agreed to conduct the three-day “Jalkatha”.

Minister Patil has taken a personal interest in this initiative, providing continuous guidance and support.

Among the four water conservation models approved by the Government of India, the Girganga Model ranks at the top. The Ministry of Jal Shakti has signed an MoU with Girganga Parivar Trust and allotted a dedicated portal for uploading project data. Recently, during a Lok Sabha debate, the Trust’s efforts were publicly appreciated for their success in sustainable water management.

Girganga Parivar Trust’s Impact at a Glance:

Projects implemented across 7 districts, 35 talukas, and 582 villages and towns.

Construction of 8,354 check dams, ponds, and recharge wells.

Direct benefit to 7.55 lakh people, including 1.51 lakh small and marginal farmers.

Groundwater levels restored, improving irrigation capacity across 4.29 lakh acres of farmland.

The enthusiasm for this upcoming discourse is palpable across Gujarat and beyond. Preparations are already in full swing, with multiple committees formed to manage the grand event.

Thousands of Gujarati families residing in Mumbai and Maharashtra have also been invited to join hands with Girganga Parivar Trust in this noble cause — to help their motherland become self-reliant in water, rather than depending solely on projects like Narmada. The Trust urges them to contribute wholeheartedly and be present for the three-day “Jalkatha: Apne Apne Shyam Ki” in Rajkot.
