Tech Mahindra Smart Academy for Health Care organized an event to highlight“Upskilling”


 The Tech Mahindra SMART Academy for Healthcare is a state-of-the-art training institute established as a CSR initiative of Tech Mahindra Limited. It aims at creating a cadre of well qualified, trained professionals in the field of allied healthcare by providing high quality, innovative and interactive training to young minds keen to pursue a career in healthcare.

 A brilliant initiative taken by organising a symposium on “upskilling ’’ value addition to the Traditional Education system, where in principals of renowned Jr.colleges and industry experts actively participated in the thought -provoking open discussion.

The highlights of the event were to throw light on issues and concerns such as employability skills, ratio of placeable students and knowing various perceptions towards vocational and academic education. India is a country where millions of graduate are not employed and its a serious concern which requires awareness and need a shift of paradigm approach. The event laid an importance of vocational education in making youth’s career, considering trade and soft skills as core need for employability.

The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Anil Jadhao - Directorate of Vocational Education & Training, Government of Maharashtra who shared his expertise and insights on the appropriate  approaches to be followed in vocational education, and was amazed by the initiatives taken by Tech Mahindra Smart Academy for Health Care.

Inspired with Tech Mahindra Foundation CSR mandate of benefiting over 50% women beneficiaries, the academy comes with a unique feature that it is only for women institute and is also managed by a women team. The institute believes in creating a batch of skilled, employable resource for India and the world  and thus they conducted an event on discussion among Principals of renowned junior colleges on “Upskilling”. The motive behind this seminar clearly lied clearly on the fact on how  to add value addition to the Traditional Education system.
The discussion highlighted major social concern on how most of the youth in India remains unemployed even after they have graduation degree. The debate was around whether a thought has been given to the causes and consequences about this situation.  India is a country where millions of graduate are not employed and it’s a matter which should be taken very seriously and needs a severe discussions, what can be done to convert these graduates into employees. A stirrer thought to change the myth that vocational education is for students who are not good in academics. To create awareness about the importance of how skills can complement to traditional education, Tech Mahindra Smart Academy for Health care Mumbai conceptualized and put this event together which witnessed Principles of renowned junior colleges in attendance. Thus, the primary objective of the event was to take a step forward towards bringing traditional and vocational education hand in hand, to increase the chances of employability for our youth and positively affect our economy in the upward direction.

Aimed at imparting professional paramedical training and employability skills, the Mumbai academy is equipped with hospital simulated labs, industry-relevant study material, and experienced faculty. To aid young women make a career in the noble healthcare sector. The Academy offers several courses including 2-year diploma courses and certificate courses of a shorter duration.
Similarly the Tech Mahindra Smart Academy has its branches in Delhi and Mohali. The Delhi institute is in collaboration with Harijan Sevak Sangh – a social development organization, founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1932 at Kingsway Camp, New Delhi. The Academy trains professionals through a number of paramedical diploma courses and certificate courses. Well-equipped laboratories, highly qualified healthcare professionals, on-the-job training in leading hospitals along with an array of extra-curricular activities. The Mohali  academy operates from a spacious three storey building, with modern classrooms, fully equipped laboratories, computer facilities and a rooftop terrace cafeteria. The laboratories resemble hospital wards to ensure that students learn in work-like settings. The Academy has a Basic Skills lab, equipped with medical mannequins on whom students can practice CPR, tube feeding, inserting IV drips, giving injections and more. Additionally, it has an autoclave and sterilisation station. The operation theatre lab is outfitted with actual hospital equipment. Similarly, the dialysis lab has both B Braun and Fresenius machines, and a dialyser.
