Sixth Edition of COLORS Pinkathon Mumbai 2017

The sixth edition of Colors Pinkathon Mumbai 2017 – Inspiring Partners Bajaj Electricals, India’s biggest women’s run concluded successfully with an overwhelming response of over 10,000 women participating for the V Wash plus 3kms, 5kms & Tata Salt Lite 10kms and 21 kms of the multi-category run held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the R2 MMRDA grounds, BKC, Mumbai. A team of 50 visually impaired girls, Cancer Sheroes, Baby-wearing mothers and senior citizens enthusiastically joined as well.

COLORS Pinkathon - Empowering Indian Women, India's biggest women’s run to encourage and promote fitness & health among women and create awareness for Breast Cancer and other issues relating to women’s health is supported by United Sisters Foundation and promoted by Maximus MICE & Media Solutions. Super model, actor, Ultraman and Pinkathon founder Milind Soman and Co- Founder Reema Sanghavi along with three leading ladies ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Jennifer Winget, Avika Gaur and Meera Deosthale of Colors participated and flagged off the Sixth Edition of COLORS Pinkathon Mumbai 2017 – Inspiring Partners Bajaj Electricals along with 101 year old Mann Kaur, world record holder and all the eminent dignitaries flagged off the multi-category run.

They need to be able to get out and run, which doesn't happen enough due to various cultural reasons. We now organize Colors Pinkathon in  eight cities. More than 10,000 women participated today and ran the VWash plus 3km, 5km, Tata Salt Lite 10km and 21km distances. They ran in running gear but also in sarees, salwar kameez, hijabs or whatever attire they deemed fit and kept them comfortable.”

Sonali Patil, cancer survivor, the mascot for the 5KM category run and Mallika Dua, mascot for Tata Salt Lite 10 kms besides the other mascots of Colors Pinkathon Mumbai successfully completed their respective runs yet again spreading the message that women can overcome any physical, mental and emotional issues if they focus on their life and take up their health and fitness seriously. Age, disabilities, illnesses or for that matter even clothes are not a deterrent anymore.

With the Pinkathon's one of a kind initiative, every single finisher of Colors Pinkathon Mumbai 2017 - Inspiring Partners Bajaj Electricals received a beautiful Tsunamika medal, upcycled bag, free gynaec consultation from the healthcare partner Apollo hospitals and a free mammogram if the participant is above 45 yrs of age. The benefit is also transferrable. There were green water stations set up along the route as well as a breast-feeding zone in the holding area for baby wearing mothers.

Colors Pinkathon Mumbai has received huge response from corporate sponsors like Colors, Bajaj Electricals, TATA Salt Lite, VWash Plus, Reebok, Apollo Hospitals. The focus of India’s biggest women’s only running event, is to encourage an active lifestyle and overall fitness amongst women, while creating a much-needed awareness about breast cancer and bone health and encourage thousands of new or first-timer women to take up running. All proceeds raised from the event will be used for the expenses incurred in organizing and marketing the event and towards the Women's Cancer Initiative in its fight against breast cancer.

100 Hearing Impaired children shall Listen The Sound of Life through Cochlear Implant Surgeries under CSR Initiative of Power Finance Corporation Ltd


Today, CSR in India has gone beyond merely ‘Charity and Donations’. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) acknowledges the corporation’s duty that the corporation owes to the community within which it operates. It regards the community as an equal stakeholder.As per provision of Company Act 2013 it is now mandatory for all companies to contribute 2% of their 3 year average annual net profit on their CSR activities as mentioned in Schedule VII of the acts with effect from April, 2014. Further added in Scheduled VII there is provision of aids and appliances to Divyangjans under ‘Promoting Health and Care including preventive health care’.

Activities undertaken by corporates under their CSR obligation could prove a game changer for providing sustainable development in Social Sector. Disability sector is one of the area which needs to be addressed for inclusive growth of the society and CSR provide the huge opportunity to serve the persons with disabilities that fall under vulnerable section of society.

In this front, Power Finance Corporation Ltd has set an exemplary example by coming forward and sponsoring Cochlear Implant surgeries for 100 children with profound hearing loss under their CSR project implemented by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). PFC and ALIMCO signed MoU on 25th July 2016 at Urjanidhi, 1 Barakhamba Lane, Connaught Place, New Delhi for conducting Cochlear Implant surgeries of 100 beneficiaries for FY 20-16- 17 on PAN India basis valuing Rs. 630.00 lakhs under the CSR initiative of Power Finance Corporation Ltd.

The MoU was signed by Shri R. Murahari, GM (CSR & SD), PFC& Shri D.R.Sarin,
Chairman & Managing Director, ALIMCO. Cochlear Implant surgeries are done through Ali
Yavar Jang National Institute of Speech and Language Disabilities (Divyangjan), Mumbai under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Post operative rehabilitation is undertaken by Audiologist and speech language pathologist and special educator of Hearing Impaired.

This major CSR initiative of PFC will help the children to completely overcome their hearing disability, thereby enabling them to hear and speak coherently and making them fully independent to lead a normal and productive life. This effort will not only bring these underprivileged children to the mainstream of life but will also contribute to national economy.

Hearing impairment has a significant impact on the child and his family. Considering the wide ranging impact of hearing impairment, early identification and intervention during the critical learning years, has been found to be very important to minimize the impact of the hearing impairment in the child's over all development. Most of children who are born deaf or hard of hearing can learn to listen to their own voices, listen to the voices of others and listen to the sounds of life.

An estimate shows that around 35,000 children need Cochlear Implant annually in India. Government of India has made provision to sponsor 500 numbers under the ADIP Scheme which is minuscule in comparison to actual requirement. Till date more than 1000 numbers of Cochlear Implant Surgeries have been successfully conducted in the country under the ADIP Government of India and CSR funds.

The event is an effort to sensitize various organisations to come forward for the noble cause of supporting hearing impaired children under their CSR initiatives.

Under the group’s CSR initiative, EKA will build Asian and Global Ranking tournaments in Chess, Tennis and Golf

Partnering with The Indian Chess School, to build the richest U-13 global ranking tournament in the sport, the CSR initiative also joins hands with the Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academies (MBTA) to host U-14 Asian Ranking Tournament in India and along with Rishi Narain Golf Management Group (RNGM) will promote the Faldo Series in India.

Reebok celebrates Women Strength and Spirit at the #FitToFightAwards 2.0

 Bringing an evening of inspiring stories of courage and determination to the city, Reebok Indiacelebrated the second edition of the #FitToFightAwards at Taj Lands End today. The #FitToFightAwards are an extension of Reebok’s #FitToFight campaign, that propagates the belief that fitness brings out the best in each one of us, and is not just physical, but also social and mental. To celebrate the power of women, Reebok introduced its #FitToFight campaign last year, with brand ambassador Kangana Ranaut as the face of the campaign, to inspire women to be strong willed and indomitable when faced with challenges. It was a unanimous call to applaud real life women heroes who have fought with grit and spirit to achieve their mark across fields.


Raising the bar this edition, the fitness brand launched the second edition of #FitToFight in September this year, with another compelling narrative and ‘Girls Don’t Fight’ as the overarching themeExploring a deeper cultural context of the need for women to fight the wrong, Girls Don’t Fight espouses the cause of the ordinary woman battling strong, prevalent social issues. Reebok also partnered with the Government’s social campaign Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao for this award ceremony. Hon’ble Minister of State Dr. Virendra Kumar, Ministry of Women & Child Development presided over the evening as the Guest of Honor. The Minister highlighted the schemes undertaken by the Ministry of Women and Child Development for the girl child education.

Reebok #FitToFightAwards facilitated 12 women and 4 young girls from The Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, celebrating their trials and tribulations. The evening also saw the presence of prominent names including Malaika Arora, RJ Malishka (awardee), designer Masaba Gupta (awardee) among many others.  Beginning with a performance by sand art maestro Nitish Bharti, the event also saw well-known stand-up comedian Aditi Mittal perform, amongst other highlights of the evening.

The first phase of #FitToFight received an overwhelming response where over 100 women across the country shared their personal stories of strength and courage. The campaign culminated with the first #FitToFightAwards evening in December last year, where Reebok and Kangana felicitated 12 women that included Indian athlete Deepa Malik and stunt woman Geeta Tandon whose extraordinary feats inspired the audience.

Global Indian International school gives wings to Indian students

Global Indian International School hosted its annual GIIS Real World Challenges Convention at GIIS East Coast Campus Singapore. This year’s theme was Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship or ICE that aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills and creativity among students.
A total of 604 students’ participated in the convention. About 210 students took part in the on-spot competitions or had qualified for the final round of various categories. Of these, 74 were from GIIS India campuses, who travelled to Singapore to participate in the GIIS Real World Challenges Convention as part of the GSE programme.

Global Student Exchange or GSE Programme is an important learning platform that helps GIIS students to interact, participate and collaborate with students of other campuses in India and abroad. Students from around twelve GIIS campuses including 6 from India, 3 from Singapore and 1 each from Malaysia, UAE and Japan participated in the global contest.

The Real World Challenges Convention provides a global exposure to students to present their case studies professionally to a diverse audience. The convention also helps young minds become confident, self-reliant and acquire leadership skills through group discussions, time management and prioritization.

The event provides the right stimulation to student teams to present their ideas in the form of art, essay, speeches, debates and multimedia presentations. The convention was open for all age groups ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

As a part of the 9 gems program of GIIS, it believes in nurturing the generation of today, to lead the world of tomorrow. GIIS offers a true Global Advantage, which is through a holistic approach taken by GIIS to nurture the overall growth of a child in order to make them competent on a global level.

More than 50 students from India campuses bagged laurels in various categories this year, making GIIS India all the more proud of their young representatives. Teams like GIIS Ahmedabad and Indore teamed up together for one of the categories named OPUS, and emerged as winners in the same.

They prepared and practiced for the competition through video conferencing which showcases the amount of dedication and seriousness each GIIS India participant exercised to sweep accolades at the most awaited global competition of GIIS.

There were different competitions that were held at the convention like Transformation Turncoat - a debate with a twist, Art Competition, Adzapp - a video editing competition, Essay Writing and Innovative Social Entrepreneurship Challenge and the turnaround of the students were humongous compared to the previous year.

Popular Bubble Tea chain introduces special offer at Vile Parle store for patrons on December 13,14

Next week, residents of Vile Parle will have a sweet surprise awaiting them! Dr Bubbles -- Chai Specialist, the popular chain that serves the unique Bubble Tea, will have an array of drinks for patrons available at only Rs 10. The special offer will be open on December 13 and 14 at the chain’s exclusive store in Vile Parle.

The Vile Parle store is the latest addition to the repertoire of Dr Bubbles’ stores in Mumbai. Dr Bubbles is credited with bringing authentic Taiwanese Bubble Tea to Mumbai in 2015 by customising the flavour to suit the tastes of Indians. Dr Bubbles made its debut in Mumbai with three stores – one each at Hill Road and Carter Road in Bandra and one at Phoenix Market City, Kurla. But with growing demand, the chain recently launched more stores not just in Mumbai, but across India too. Six stores came up in Mumbai at Kemps Corner, Ghatkopar, Seawoods, Vashi and two outlets in Thane. Meanwhile, three stores were launched in Surat (Vesu, Varacha and Katargram) and one each in Amravati, Nasik and Indore through franchisee route.

Bubble Tea finds its genesis in Taiwan where the drink was invented in the early 1980s. The refreshing flavoured fruit teas and milk teas served with chewy tapioca balls sucked up through a big fat straw became a rage in several Asian countries. Yet, when Bubble Tea first debuted in India, it ended up confusing the palate of Indians who did not respond too well to the drink.

Dr Bubbles changed all of this when a makeover of sorts was given to the drink to cater to Indian tastes by adding fruit jelly and fruit-flavoured poppers to the milk and fruit teas. For ardent tea lovers, Dr Bubbles also introduced a special ‘chai’ flavoured variety. With a ‘base’ of green or black tea, Dr Bubbles’ fruit teas came infused with natural fruit flavourings. The chain soon caught the fancy of Mumbaites who loved to explore the distinct options and flavours of Bubble Tea.

Speaking about the new store in Vile Parle and the special offers on the occasion, Mr. Adnan Sarkar, Founder, Dr. Bubbles said, “On December 13 and 14, our Vile Parle store will have most teas being given away for only Rs 10. We came up with this offer because we wanted to give something special to all our patrons who have given us so much love. We also want more and more people to come taste our authentic beverages and enjoy the unique flavours. We hope our new Vile Parle store receives as much love as all our other stores.”

The special offer is exclusive to the Vile Parle store only and will not be available at the other Dr Bubbles outlets and stores. The brand now also has plans to expand its presence across many states in India and scale up to 100 stores in a year. Hyderabad, Nagpur, Bhopal, Cochin are the upcoming locations.
