Mumbai Tech Week Day 2 sparks Tech Revolution- PM Modi Applauds TEAM's Groundbreaking Initiative


From the launch of the Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse, to discussions on democratizing Investment in India and conversations on harnessing AI for Impact, Mumbai sets new standards for tech ecosystems on day 2 of Mumbai Tech Week

Mumbai, February 19, 2024 - The Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse was officially launched at the Mumbai Tech Week, an unparalleled not-for-profit initiative, hosted and curated by Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM). This revolutionary project was unveiled by Hon. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis as part of his Maharashtra@75 vision. This initiative is an ambitious endeavour that utilizes cutting-edge technology to create an immersive virtual representation of Mumbai in the metaverse, that offers citizens an opportunity to experience the ongoing infra developments. 

The day unfolded with a session titled ‘Making Every Indian an Investor,’ by Ashish Chouhan MD and CEO, NSE alongside Ajaya Sharma, Senior Editor, ET Now, wherein Chauhan delved into the transformative shifts in the Indian investment landscape. Their dialogue shed light on democratizing investment opportunities for the Indian masses, emphasizing technology's role in bridging the gap between potential investors and the financial market. 

"Innovation With India-first Lens" session, led by Sandhya Devanathan, Vice President, Meta India and Sruthijith KK, Executive Editor, The Economic Times, focused on tailoring technological advancements to address the unique challenges and opportunities within India, promoting a sustainable and inclusive approach to innovation. 

The "Young Turks" panel celebrated the achievements and insights of young entrepreneurs such as Harsh Jain of Dream11 & Dream Sports, Aakrit Vaish of Haptik, and Ashish Hemrajani of BookMyShow. Moderated by Shereen Bhan of CNBC-TV18, the session provided a platform for sharing success stories and lessons learned, inspiring the next generation of tech innovators. 

The event wrapped up with a session with Anant Goenka, Executive Director of The Indian Express Group and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Honorable Minister of State - MeitY, Government of India, in which the Minister said, “our approach to creating a framework of regulation has been open, transparent, and consultative. And it is not so much about government regulating as it is about all of the stakeholders coming together and creating the guardrails that are important for the orderly growth of any segment of our economy. We are also partnering with the best partners for technology for the future of semiconductors. So, along with the design innovation ecosystem on semiconductors, which is going to design the next generation chips and devices, we are also launching India Semiconductor Research Centre which is going to be a state-of-the-art research centre where the world's biggest semiconductor makers will research in India. We intend to exploit AI to its fullest for achieving the goals of our economic growth, ensuring that AI makes a big impact on healthcare and drug discovery, as well as on agriculture and farmer productivity. Use cases are not about having bragging rights to compete with ChatGPT. That is not the direction we are going in. We will also go ahead and support education and there will be a focus in multiple languages of India, and multiple datasets.”

Day 2 of Mumbai Tech Week not only showcased the strength and diversity of Mumbai's tech ecosystem but also reinforced the city's position as a leading hub for technological innovation and entrepreneurship in India. The unveiling of the Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse, alongside insightful discussions on the future of investment, startup financing, and the transformative potential of AI, has reinforced Mumbai’s position as a leader in shaping the digital landscape of tomorrow.
