Doctor 365 Bollywood Maha Arogya Shivir Witnesses Presence of Renowned Personalities"

Renowned singer Udit Narayan, Social worker and Producer Smita Thackeray, actor-director Dheeraj Kumar, and others attended the 'Doctor 365 Bollywood Maha Arogya Shivir' organized by Dr. Dharmendra Kumar and filmmaker Dheeraj Kumar at Chitrakoot Ground in Andheri West. The Free medical and health camp, which took place on Sunday, proved to be highly successful, benefiting thousands of people from film ,TV and media. Bollywood celebrities, technicians, backstage workers, and media professionals and their families participated in this well-organized health check-up camp.

The show 'Ehsaas' is not just about presentation; So there will be a soulful melodious dialogue between the artists and the audience in this program. In the program, an endless repertoire of Urdu poetry, ghazals and Sufi music will be presented to you by renowned artists. Sufi music is characterized by spirituality, love and harmony. Sufi music has a unique combination of elements of Indian classical music, folk music and love, which is why Sufi music is always deeply rooted in the human mind. NEW DELHI, 24 January 2024: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), today, announced the appointment of Mr Kevin Vaz, CEO – Broadcast Entertainment, Viacom18 as the Chairman of FICCI Media & Entertainment Committee.

 

Mr Vaz, a highly accomplished executive with nearly three decades of experience in the Media & Entertainment industry, joined Viacom18 in July 2023 as CEO - Broadcast Entertainment. In his current capacity, he oversees the media company's broadcast business, film studio, merchandising business, live entertainment, and regional entertainment on Viacom18’s digital (OTT) platform. Addressing the tobacco menace in India: Innovative programme empowers teachers to lead the change

Mumbai, 24 January 2024: In a country where tobacco-related deaths claim the lives of 3,700 individuals daily, Maharashtra grapples with a staggering 27% of its population affected by the adverse effects of tobacco consumption. Recognizing the critical situation in the state, an innovative initiative has emerged, positioning teachers as key influencers in spearheading tobacco control efforts within schools.

The Healis Sekhsaria Institute for Public Health in Navi Mumbai, in collaboration with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HSPH)/Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in the USA, joined forces with the Bihar Department of Education (DOE) to develop and test the ground breaking Tobacco-Free Teachers, Tobacco-Free Society (TFT-TFS) programme. This marks the world's first tobacco intervention centered around educators.

Tobacco-Free Teachers, Tobacco-Free Society (TFT-TFS) is an evidence-based intervention programme designed to promote tobacco cessation among teachers and instil robust tobacco control policies within schools in Bihar. Executed during 2009-2011 in select government schools, the programme achieved remarkable success, with 50% of teacher’s successfully quitting tobacco, and 92% of schools implementing a Tobacco-Free School policy.

In Maharashtra, the pervasive menace of tobacco has cast a dark shadow over the health of its population, with approximately 27% grappling with the adverse effects of tobacco consumption. The toll of this detrimental habit is staggering, contributing to a multitude of health issues that affect individuals across the state. From the bustling streets of Mumbai to the serene landscapes of Pune, tobacco-related deaths claim an alarming number of lives daily, the adverse impact is not confined solely to mortality but extends to a myriad of health complications, including respiratory disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and various forms of cancer. The pressing need to address this public health crisis has given rise to innovative initiatives, such as the Tobacco-Free Teachers, Tobacco-Free Society programme, recognizing the urgency to empower communities, educators, and individuals in Maharashtra to combat the devastating consequences of tobacco use.

"In empowering teachers as champions of change against tobacco, we illuminate a path to a healthier, tobacco-free future for our communities. Implementation Model

Following the success in Bihar, a recent study confirmed the feasibility of large-scale dissemination. The project team subsequently developed a self-help manual for headmasters and teachers, derived from the evidence-based programme. This manual aims to guide school leaders in overcoming tobacco use and, in turn, fostering tobacco-free environments within schools.

Key components of the self-help manual:

    1. TFT-TFS programme material:

        ◦ Empowering principals through self-implementation.

        ◦ Six programme themes covering teacher role models, health effects of tobacco, motivation to quit, skills to quit, dealing with withdrawal, and maintenance and celebration.

    2. Support in tobacco cessation/prevention:

        ◦ Guidance for headmasters/teachers in understanding addiction.

        ◦ Practical advice and government-provided toll-free contact number (1800-11-2356) for assistance.

    3. Tobacco-free school policies:

        ◦ Guidance for mandatory implementation through study materials and group discussions.

    4. Posters and wall paintings:

        ◦ Monthly themed visuals to facilitate discussions and promote a tobacco-free school environment.

Implementation timetable

The manual outlines a timetable for the TFT-TFS programme, aiming to make educational institutions tobacco-free. It also promotes tobacco control in communities, providing knowledge about the health effects of tobacco through practical examples and stories, suggesting alternative methods to overcome cravings.

Mumbai: January 23, 2024-: Utkarsh Small Finance Bank Limited (USFBL), today announced the inauguration of its 4 new banking outlets, including one at Vile Parle in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

With this launch, the Bank has reached 74 branches in the state of Maharashtra and 883 in the country spread across 26 States and Union Territories.   

The Banking Outlet was inaugurated by Shri. The country experienced a remarkable surge in Electric Vehicles (EVs) last year, and this can be attributed to the government's proactive policy initiatives and support to energy transition and to EV acceleration, in particular.

As we welcome the Union Budget 2024-2025, we are optimistic that the GoI will announce continued support to support demand for EVs with the announcement of FAME III scheme. FAME scheme of GoI has been instrumental in reducing the price differential between EV and ICE vehicles, and thereby spurring demand from customers for EVs. This scheme has been the most successful demand generation incentive and the success of it can be seen in growing interest in and adoption of electric 2W and electric 3W from customers across the country. With help of Fame II, a large number of electric buses have been ordered and deployed in our cities, thereby reducing the menace of pollution. 

Thus, the most important expectation and demand from EV sector in the Union Budget 2024 is the continuation of demand incentive schemes for EVs with FAME III scheme. We strongly feel that if FAME II demand incentive scheme is suddenly discontinued in March 2024, there by leading to a significant increase in prices of EVs, it will lead to reduction of demand and as a country, we will lose momentum we have garnered towards a rapid transition to green transport. It may also lead to higher imports and loss of gains in Make in India for electric vehicles and their components. A clear and consistent demand generation roadmap is critical for continued and enhanced investments in e-mobility.” 

Further, including Electric vehicle financing under Priority Sector Lending will help to provide impetus for affordable financing for EVs. We also request Government to create a strong export incentive policy for export of EVs, thereby encouraging local manufacturing of EVs for global markets. We anticipate policies that align with global sustainability objectives and position our country as a leader in the transition to electric mobility. Moreover, we are hopeful for a reduction in GST rates from the current 18 percent to 5 percent on lithium-ion batteries. This move by the GoI will bring about a positive impact on the EV industry.

The upcoming 2024 budget is poised to mark a significant transformation for the electric vehicle industry. The industry eagerly anticipates a budget aligned with sustainable and net-zero development goals, fostering the growth of the electric vehicle sector, and contributing to a greener and cleaner future for India.
