With this in mind, the Baha'is in Mumbai are actively engaged in various service projects aimed at empowering and uplifting individuals and communities.
The Baha'is in Mumbai recognize the importance of developing one's talents and capacities to lead a life of service to society. They understand that by nurturing virtues such as truthfulness, love, and generosity, individuals can grow strong in character and contribute positively to their communities.
One of the key initiatives undertaken by the Baha'i community in Mumbai is the Children Value Education program. In this program, Baha'i friends in Mumbai organize classes that focus on teaching virtues to young children. These classes, held in locations such as Dharavi, Jijamata, and the Salaam Balak Trust, provide a nurturing environment for children to imbibe these attributes, which in turn help them grow strong in character.
Another significant project is the Junior Youth Empowerment Programs, which aim to empower young girls and boys aged 11 to 15. Through these programs, participants learn about community building and are guided to walk a path of righteousness while understanding the needs of the society they live in. The programs help these young individuals develop a sound moral structure and learn how to express themselves, directing their energies towards service to the community.
In addition to these projects, the Baha'i community in Mumbai actively reaches out to the underprivileged in society. They provide meals, support old age homes, and offer assistance to specially-abled children. English classes and other similar activities are also organized to provide education and uplift those in need.
