La Bella Peninsula

Indian Bloggers

My first time in Sion, turned out to be first class, due to first rate food, service and interior decor of Peninsula Next ( Fine Dine restaurant near Sion Station ). ' Sion aaya, Sion aaya .... Bandra, Kurla, Matunga... ke baad Sion aaya ' ... was my only connection with Sion, through a popular Marathi-parody song. Being a Mumbaikar for four generations, still I had never been to Sion. Mrs. Geeta Shridhar ( aka Geetama - Woman Achiever of the Year ) literally dragged me to Sion circle and came personally to receive me at the Sion circle. I won't say thanks, as I want to remain grateful to her forever.

My most favorite course of the meal is mock tails and here the choices are Delightful. The names are alluring, the presentation and the taste is refreshing. We ordered 6 different varieties to check out. I loved the Barman' special with Ice cream followed by Shirley Temple, Mojito , Blue lagoon, Green Envy etc.

Our group consisted of 4 Non-vegetarians and 4 vegetarians, so accordingly we ordered and shared all dishes.  For Starters we relished Veg corn Crunchies - stuffed with mashed green peas, potatoes. It was lightly spicy and fried crispy. Each dish was decorated with carved Zucchini, Tomatoes, color Peppers , Carrots etc. The visual appeal was too good to spoil and savor.

Three types ( Indian , Chinese and Mexican ) of Cuisine are available.  We liked Mexican Quesadilla (  corn tortillas stuffed with cheese and served with guacamole and sour dip ). I don't like paneer so I did not taste Veg Seamzi Paneer but my friends liked  the smooth paneer blended with chillies, tomatoes, onions etc. Veg Kolhapuri was a bit spicy for others but being Maharashtrian I preferred to eat it with Corn-paratha. Bread basket consisted of assorted rotis like , Roomali , Naan, Paratha etc.

I thought, I won't be able to do justice to the desserts but as soon as I saw the silver bowls full of Rabdi , Malai Kulfi , Caramel Custard , Dry Fruit Kulfi , Sitaphal kulfi and Sizzling browni, I could not resist it for a second and slurped the Dry fruit kulfi to the last spoonful.

Later we checked out the nice, spacious banquet halls on the upper floors.

The marble interior , the upholstered sofas, the murals ,  the computerized ordering added  charm to our dining experience.

Each and every dish was first click-clicked and then only was allowed to be tasted. We had great time chatting and eavesdropping. Geeta was sure, that you will turn up a bit late. but u did not.

Hey Prateek , welcome to ' Spirit Of Mumbai'. The food was appetizing and still we could not resist clicking it first from numerous angles. Don't even remind me of drinks. Geeta ordered 2nd glass of Barman's Special, especially for me. And all ended up sharing each others mock tails happily.

Hi Prasanna. Sizzling Brownie looks delicious but actually it was a bit burnt so tasted bitter. And the other desserts overshadowed Sizzling brownie. If u stay in Sion , u must visit Peninsula.
